500kms and fluids done easy but want to clear cvt dust

So I did my engine oil and cvt oil and it was a pleasure. I read in numerous posts about the drive belt wearing excess rubber into the cvt casing, so decided I would try to clear that too.

So I take a look and notice a few things need to be removed even before getting to the few bolts that are obscured, like
the air filter housing, and body panels even before that.

I go to loosen a bolt on the first panel that I need to remove to access the filter, and wow was that tight!  I used a driver whos head is a tad small for the bolt and noticed while I got it undone, I did strip it a little bit.  I decided right then to just put it back on and leave it until I could find a better driver.  I now want to buy a new bolt as even though its not noticeable to anyone just lookig at the bike, I know its not perfect anymore  :-\

Has anyone else experienced this with the bolts stripping? Any suggestions are welcome for when I get to it.

Yep, those fellows run those in tight down there in Kymco Land~!
Noticed the same thing....so, I bought a #3 phillips screwdriver to remove those large panel screws (I think you are calling them 'bolts' - are we on the same page here? The larger head on the screw driver (some call it a bullnosed phillips) catches those crazy tight screws better than does the more common #2 phillips screwdriver.

Have read that it is a good idea to put a little squirt of thread penetrator on many of the Kymco fasteners to prevent stripping the threads - though I've never experienced stripping the threads of a newly fastened  bolt or screw by simply trying to unscrew it. Would be truly spooky to see that happen.

So, try a larger headed phillips screw driver (#3), and maybe watch the aircleaner removal video recently posted here for removing the plastic body cover and the airfilter cover.

Let us know what you find in the belt cover.. I found nothing in the 2 oils or screen when changed at 30 miles. Planning to do the 2 oils & screen again tomorrow since it's raining here and I just passed 200 miles.  That should hold things until the big service at 600 miles.

Using BP 93 octane fuel and have a case of Amsoil synthetic Scooter specific oil waiting to use after break-in period ends (which mileage no one seems to agree on) along with the bottles of Pro Honda Hypoid synthetic shaft oil for the gears.

Yes I meant screws for the panel.  I had a bullnose phillips in the basement and tried it with no issues. Going to wait till Sunday evening to do the full job as I can see I will also need a socket driver as my ratchet is a cheap standard with no extender. I can borrow from my mom's house tomorrow  since I'll be there anyway!

    If your philips screw driver is worn a little, it is time to get new screw drivers or get replaceable tip screw drivers ,. one handle , and common , robertson, & philips tips,. and even nut drivers ,  sae & metric  all on one handle, I bought a 2 1/2 volt drill driver a little mini,. and I never over tighten screws any more,.
