..stock variator drive boss..
« on: June 25, 2010, 02:52:35 AM »
..i found this waay back in this board...modified it somewhat, but its pretty much straight forward...

..basic instructions for replacing the oem restricted drive boss: 1-Remove bolts (8mm socket) from the cvt cover.. 2-Remove hex nut (17mm socket) from splined crankshaft... 3-Remove machine washer, the splined adapter, cooling fan and outer half of drive pulley (drive face)...4-Remove drive belt from shaft (drive boss)  5-With left your hand, push inner half of pulley (movable drive face), and with your right hand remove the drive boss from the shaft... Be sure that you hold the inner pulley half securely to insure that the roller weights remain in their proper position (they could fall out)... 6-Insert new drive boss onto splined shaft and into the moveable drive face.. 7-Install belt...  8-Install drive face, fan, splined adapter, washer and hex nut..(add a bit of blue Lock-Tite)  9-Install cover...

..enjoy the increase in performance!!!

This sounds quite complicated is there a video? What would happen if you cut the CDI box and didn't change the drive boss?

No ... The drive boss is the big long washer in the middle of the variator. The one you want is all smooth the stock one has a spot that is like 1/4 inch rise on one end. also 5.5 rollers work better to.
