Ride for Dad
« on: June 16, 2013, 07:56:06 PM »
An event held every year for beating prostate cancer. Went on a 130km ride with a motorcycle police escort through the city blocking off all the intersections. There were 540 bikes in total on the ride. That whole parking lot behind this photo was filled with bikes when the ride started. There was only one other scooter besides me, a Vespa. Once we left the city and got on the highway, I had no trouble at all keeping up with the Harley's and the other big boys. In fact one of the Harley riders asked me what kind of an engine I had that I could keep up to him and did I have any throttle left. The ride raised over $100,000.00 for prostate cancer. Awesome ride.

No I didn't tell them the top speed but I was keeping up to them easy with some throttle left doing 120kph in some areas. I think I opened a few of the big boys eyes. Also halfway through the ride they were all fueling up their bikes except me. When I told them the capacity of my fuel tank and the mileage I get, I think it kind of ticked them off. Don't take it too easy de dee. I am not far behind you. I just turned 75. Stay young.
There are some videos on youtube of the ride. If you type in ride for dad 2013 calgary you can view them. The video by Kim Martin at the start of the ride you will see me turning the corner at 3:50 in the video.
