Well I'm not so sure about that. Below a certain RPM the clutch disengages but on my
scoot the belt is still carried off the drive boss. I modified mine then added the DR Pulley
sliders and my scoot would rev to 9000 RPM's at take off as the ratio was allowed to go
lower so I'm assuming it allowed the pulley face to open more....

I was not thinking of take off speed,.  I now see your idea,. I would love to see your scoot in action,  you are a pocket rocket ,.  what tool did you use to hog out the ramp,.

I used a dremel, not a very smooth job but it works fine. I started modifying it because
I could only do 60 MPH and it's supposed to do 70. I didn't notice much change with the
stock rollers on the low range but she's running great now!

I just checked the width of belt and it will run on the boss , I will take a run after supper to see what it will do,.  I shaved another mm off of the variator,  and a 1/2 mm off of the face variator,  I did a dry run on the stand and the belt came just over the top of the pully, that should lower the RPM at 65 mph.        after supper test time?????

My mods to get the pulley faces closer together didn't work as I need a shorter boss to do it.
Need some help from a machine shop for that one...

from stop rpm. at wot.  is  6,500,.  up to 80 mph. it builds to 7,500 rpm.  at 90 mph.  8,000 rpm. that is on a two way run,. that is with a givi windsheild,  and I weigh 211 lb.  my seat has been raised 2 inches so I look over the sheild,. and I slide back 3 inches,.  the raise on the seat is with me on it,. it took 4 inches of foam to give me the lift,.  feet still flat on the ground and knees flexed,.                                       I bought a power file 1/2 inch wide it sure cleaned the ramps in a hurry,  it is the right size for 20 mm. ramps on the downtown,  I find I will have to smooth the ramps for good results, all I have is 60 grit belts,  grits available by the manual from 40 grit to150 grit,.    de dee 2011 300i downtown,

I took 1.2mm off my drive boss length last year, gained me 4-5mph on my 50cc, slight loss in take off speed tho.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

our machinist here do not like one unit to work on ,  and would like a engineers drawing to work from,. so it would not cost more than one thousand $ for the job,.  ( the joy of being in a Gov. town,.  )   where did the small shops go

This may sound stupid but I thought that the dr pulley sliders were designed to do what your trying to do with a lot less effort. In saying that I do like to play around with the engineering side to save a bit of money its the self satisfaction that you get that better than a plug n play thing
Go hard or die trying,lol

Sliders are not sold in our country... not even any Dr. Pulley brand... if they do sell here, the'll be very expensive.... next step... be creative and... improvise...   ;)
