BIG rain ride today
« on: July 22, 2013, 11:11:25 PM »
Very heavy rain this morning as I rode my LIKE 200i to work.
Deep puddles in corners and across the center of the streets.
My biggest issue is taking a 35mph corner in a big rain, in the dark with on-coming car lights in my face.
Tough to see there for a little while...and the center line and road edge lines are invisible in this situation.

Scooter ran fine - no issues - Michelin City Grips under me and red clip-on LED bike light blinking away on the rear. Keep getting chest wet with the Frogg Tog jacket though. Maybe water is just entering at my neck and running down. Frogg pants working OK.

Looking for a bigger rear LED to mount - battery operated is OK - for these heavy rains. will use it in the daylight rains as well.
Ride safe, folks!

This is my work car. Will be riding it except for snow days. I do take it easy - I've nothing to prove to anyone - just scootering to work, which is about 3 or 4 miles at 5:30 am. Daylight rain riding is much easier!
No rain rides for the fun of it - only to work and back.

A scooter man does what he has to do! Carefully, and with a smile on his mug because it's raining to beat the band and this Kymco is purring along -Just like our friend way out there past Hawaii said it would!
Riding safe here!

LIGHTS is one big key!!  I switched over to an HID high beam and some cheap LED lights for my low beam and am VERY happy with the results.  HUGE difference in light output, but you have to be careful and make sure the HID ballast pulls no more than about 3.5 amps.  Any more and you could have problems with your electrical system.

This is what I will do Stig... I'll get those led rear lights with the magnetic base... place a pair of steel plates on the rear of the scoot using double sided adhesive tapes... maybe at the top box and under the license plate... modify the wiring to accommodate a cigarette lighter plug (or these may even have the lighter plug already, I don't know) and use the power outlet to power the lights...
