I am FINALLY I Like 200i owner.
« on: July 28, 2013, 08:07:35 PM »
Well, I have finally taken the plunge and went to my local dealer and purchased a brand spankin new Like 200i. It was delivered yesterday. It was pretty late by the time it arrived so I only had the time to zip around the culdesac a few times. It didn't seem to have any problems getting off the line with my weight. I'm 6ft and about 300lbs. There is a huge difference between the Like and the motorcycle I rode in the safety class. This thing is a blast!! The throttle is so much smoother. I have a feeling I'm going to be addicted to this thing.
I am a little disappointed with the dealer. He explained how they needed about 20 to 30 minutes to prep the scooter and put the temp plate on and make sure it's ready to go. There was also a lot of sticker glue all over the front he said they would clean off. He took it into the service area in the back. It sat there for 2 hours and they never touched it. When I got it home the glue was still there. And of course the plate was never put on. Also the seat was really lose when I sat on it. I also thought they knocked my scooter over while I was waiting. I heard a crash and someone yelling that he didn't do it. I opened the door and looked and the bike they were workin on had fallen off the lift. I hope this is not an indication of the service they provide.
First thing I did was give it a good wash and cleaned it up right nice. That is such a great looking scooter. Well, I'm off to gas it up and take it for a good test ride.
Thanks everyone for all the great info. It really helped a great deal in making my choice on which scooter I wanted. Have a great one and be safe, mscmkr

Congrats on the new ride. It's a fun scoot and very reliable. I have about 2700 miles on mine and it has not given a whif of grief. Send pictures when you can tear yourself away from riding.  ;D

Welcome to the LIKE fold.!!
WARNING : You might lose a lot of sleep! (best time to ride is early morning - while the jerks are still sleeping - I have not slept-in in 3 months!)
Only time I had a problem is when it would not start because I'd turned off the kill switch the night beofre while drying it off after riding home in a monsoon.
Poor thing was trying hard to start ......then I noticed the kill switch and - Bob's Your Uncle !- fired right up!
OK, we'll be needing some pictures of it - I for one still get a kick out of a brand new LIKE! - looked at 3 of them at the dealer's yesterday (while measuring Kymco shocks with my tape)
Enjoy - and keep us updated!
Ride safe......

A couple tips. Pay attention to the E and F on the fuel gauge. Ours needle sweeps the opposite way to most gauges. If you do your own oil, the strainer screen goes in just like a cup would sit and goes on top and sits inside the spring. The maintenance such as engine and trans fluid changes, and even the valve clearance are all pretty easy. Check out YouTube for a great valve adjust video by a forum member. He did a great job. One more tip is don't force the key when turning the locks. Use finesse or you will bend the keys.

Nice looking scoot!  It should give you lots of good times.  Drive defensively all the time.  Check for loose bolts on the air cleaner cover, the muffler guard and the center kick stand rubber bumper.  These seem to come loose on several of the Likes.   :)

Congratulations. Saw your pics on the other post. That sucks about your dealers service. Check Yelp and see what others have to say about the shop. Hopefully this was just a one-off situation. Anyway, congratulations on your new scooter. You are going to really enjoy it. It rides better with each passing mile. Do check for loose bolts as others have mentioned. The rearward mounting bolt on my air cleaner worked loose. I had to replace it with a non yellow zinc flange bolt. I recently order some so all will be good shortly.
