I had checked the exhaust for leaks and loose mounting nuts. I also checked both inner and outer valve springs when I pulled the cover again yesterday to reexamine the cam/rockers and timing chain and tensioner. I got a mason jar and dropped the oil again (60 km since last change), and pulled the screen again, and still not a single spec on the screen ( none of the previous oil changes showed anything in the screen either). Took the mason jar out in the sun and looked real close and has a very, very ultra fine glitter that is not steel as a magnet stirred in the jar did not gather anything. It has to be aluminum. With only 435 km it may still be particles from break in. All the research I have looked at shows the connecting rod is aluminum, with a steel cage roller bearing in the big end, and machined steel journal on the crank. From the pics it appears the rollers do roll against the aluminum bore of the rod end and could be where it is damaged causing the rattle, and aluminum dust in the oil. Does anybody know if these ship in the crate with oil in them, or could the setup guy at the dealer have forgot to put the oil in till after he test run it? I know he was back there power braking, and full throttling the engine as I could hear it. I do subscribe to the hard break in philosophy, so long as there was oil in it. The dealer cant get it in till next week, and says they will have to tear it down and examine, which would be my plan of attack too, however he also said they have never had one apart, that they dont stock any parts, and that there would maybe be "some" warranty work! I may just have to do it myself, and eat the expense just to know it's done right and trust the scooter.
