Thanks again Vivo, & others!
« on: October 31, 2013, 09:16:17 PM »
Every time I ride home from work in a driving (and this time - cold) rain storm with no issues whatsoever - I want to thank Vivo for letting me know that Kymco scoots will run in the rain - and I'd like to thank those guys who advised me to replace the stock Kendas with these Michelin City Grips. I had to make a very hard stop from 40mph coming home today ...no issues!

No, Vivo doesn't make the Kymco scooters - but when shopping my first scoot I asked how reliable a Kymco would be in all kinds of weather - since the scooter was going to be my go to work vehicle. Vivo assured me it would not let me down in the wet. (the only time it failed to start after a big wet ride was when I tripped the kill switch with the towel- turned it back on and it fired immediately)
Vivo lives in a moist part of the world....if his runs, mine will, too!
And, does anyone know of a good site to read scooter tire reviews?

Stig, our scoots run in rain, storm, typhoon, floods, and even earthquake aftermath....  it can run with your best synthetic oils and even used cooking oil... can carry the heaviest load (if it can't, unload some stuff)... the only time it can't run is if the tank's empty...

Hey Stig,

Why did you go with Michelin City Grips instead of Michelin Power Pure SC?

the city grips have tread for the rain and a little better for snow ,.and the power pure hard centers soft on the sides , not to good for cold riding,    find the power pure good grip, for the summer and good wearing ,I have about 3,000 km. on mine still look like new,.

Hey Stig,

Why did you go with Michelin City Grips instead of Michelin Power Pure SC?
I read about a few of the scooter tires some place (wish the heck I could find that place again), incl. the Power Pures with the dual rubber type - but my quest was for good rain tires - not so much Isle-Of-Man-racing-grip, so went with the City Grips (the name of which best describes my main type of riding - I don't ride 2-Up - see my seat- and I'm never doing WOT or highways or carving up the twisties)(that phrase makes me wince for some reason)(I'm on a scooter, not a Ducati - though I'd like to have a Ducati sitting in my living room next to my reading chair, just to look at- it's like looking at a 2 wheeled Ferrari. The serious mechanical quality seems amazing.)
I.....what was the question again?
