Back in Arizona.
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:04:22 PM »
Moved back to AZ from Michigan. Good to be back after 2 years. What a mistake! Just moved into new home and got internet. Anyone who lives here let me know, and maybe we can meet sometime. Well over 40,000 miles now, and belt issue is a thing of the past once it has been put together right with stock parts. Still have not adjusted valves! Getting about 53-57 mpg at about 65 mph. Hit 60 mpg once. Average I would say is at least 55. Replaced old belt that had over 30,000 miles on it! It was ready to go at any time. Huge cracking was starting to show on under side of belt. Glad to hear all is well!  I do not post much, but I occasionally read everyone's posts.  They are greatly appreciated!

Mary, as for milage, I seem to get about the same as you... but I have an 09 Ri and live in the hills of Northeast, PA.

Thanks for the post on the belt.  Mine has close to 16k miles and looks like new.  Now I know when to change the belt... not before 25k miles.

Glad to be back in the desert. I am only getting 51 and change mpg in Tucson.  It is worse in the summer with the ethanol.  The faster I go the more it smells like corn alcohol.

The only problem with riding in the desert is the current blast furnace conditions. I can't wear enough sunblock or ride fast enough to stay cool.  I am also about to buy a camel back water backpack for my 9 mile commute to the office.

I should qualify the mileage numbers are all in town no freeways in Tucson.
I wish I could ride more and drive less!

My mpg is mostly highway and freeway at about 65mph. I just don't wish to ride at 75 anymore. You have to concentrate to much on the road, and you can't relax and enjoy the view. I am getting 51-53 in town.
