Ride home
« on: September 05, 2013, 01:20:04 AM »
I live 2 miles from work and it took me over half an hour to get home today.  Crazy scoot took me 15 miles out of the way through 4 villages before it found our way back home... :)  Crazy how that happens.

On another note, I learned that, even though my helmet, ambulances are WAY louder when they appear 8 feet from your ear on a scoot.  Yowza!  Thought I was going to ride off the road!

Yep, when you ride a scooter to work, well they just won't go the same route a car goes.
3.2 miles here by car - 16 by scoot. I used to feel a little silly when the joggers watch me pass them going in 2 directions 20 mins apart - but then I thought, "shoot, it's pitch dark, they can't really see me in this helmet"
You see, 16 miles would take me way out in the boonies - so I do a 'double back'. (have been known to circle the same neighborhood 3 to 5 times; it must be an odd number or you'll end up back in your driveway and your wife wil have to call you in 'sick')
Have learned that at 37 degrees your chin and neck will freeze on a scoot - this almost never happened in my car.
Will buy one of those bank robber things before fall.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

These scooters have a mind of their own. Just the other day I took the scooter out to make a trip to the post office 4 miles away. When I got home the round trip took 83 miles.  ::)

I cant seem to make a tank of gas last more than a few days. The greatest distance from my house to any place I need to go is only 4 miles.  ;D

I am glad to hear these additional reports about scooter steering problems.....
Thought mine was the only one with this issue.

My 13 yr old daughter asked how far it was to my work, and then she went out and looked at my scoot after listening to my wife ask me how much I thought I might be saving riding a scooter to work, since I sold my work car.

A few minutes later she handed me a piece of paper with her calculations.
It seems I have made 421.8 round trips to work since buying my scooter in April. That .8 might have involved one visit to Tim Horton's.
It is only because we have the best relationship that I will be able to keep this report buried in committee for a few yrs.
I don't know where my daughter gets her sense of humor.

I think your daughter needs a raise in her allowance to keep your secrets safe.  Maybe some of that money you've saved by riding your scooter.
