LO FUEL-Light on CAP lock stuck
« on: September 22, 2013, 12:54:07 AM »
Need ride to go to work Monday!

Bright yellow LO-Fuel light's on, but cannot unlock cap.
Same key let me refuel last month. Same key starts her up.

Locksmith gave up. Any ideas, anyone smart?

should be a simple jam, try pushing the cap down while turning the key, gently left and right and see if that works.

Try shooting a little "PB Blaster" into the key hole and doing what Max suggested.  PB BLaster is a penetrating lubricant 100x better than WD-40.

Also, once you get the cap off, spray more PB Blaster on the locking mechanism, and let it soak in for a few hours after working the key several times.  You can get PB Blaster at most automotive stores, Lowe's, or maybe Walmart; it's only $5.00 a can.

Well there you go, I had the exact same problem a couple of months ago. I sprayed Lannox, a heavy duty anticorrosive lanolin lubricant directly into the key slot, worked the key a few times, and bingo, fixed. Had no trouble since. So anything similar should do the job.

Three fast replies on the Venox forum! Wow!  a damsel in distress makes the difference....  ;D

By the way kymcocruisergirl... you said locksmith gave up? What kind of locksmith was he? The first thing to suspect a stuck lock is corrosion and the first solution would be lubrication.... any handyman can do that... hmmm...

Well?  Did you get the cap fixed?
