Info Requested 250 S
« on: October 01, 2013, 04:56:19 AM »
Just purchased a 2010 with 358 miles on it, black and looks new.

A few questions.

How many watts does the Alternator put out?

What is the Cig Socket capacity, what size fuse?

Many of you use synthetic oil or regular petroleum oil?

Are you guys using regular transmission gear oil?

In reality how often do the valves need adjusting or what is your experience?

I did download the owners manual and service manual.

Recommendations for a taller shield would be appreciated.

Taller windshields are here:

http://www.columbiascooters.com/product_p/ac_wind_3755.htm

Thanks, this shield looks like it continues the same degree of angle, does the shield get close to your face, has anyone used this shield that can offer some feedback?

I have the same engine in a different bike. The valves don't really go out of adjustment, but checking them at the proper intervals is a fairly easy job. I like synthetic 5W40 oil in the winter, but a good conventional oil works just fine. Depending where you live, the recommended 15W40 might be a little thick when cold starting. 10W40 might be a better fit.

Gear oil is easy to find at auto parts stores. I use 80W90. The specified SAE90 might be hard to find, and possibly not worth the effort.

Good information, thanks.

We get some cold temps in this area but nothing like up north for extended periods of time.

I thought our location would show up on the forum, I see it doesn't so I added mine in my signature.

I spoke with a guy who really likes that shield.  It's actually made for the PS200 and has no holes for the tabs on the PS250.  You will need to drill holes where the tabs go or you can remove the tabs from the PS250.  Easier to drill holes so you can go back to the original shield if you wish.  It is the same windshield, just higher and a little wider.

Unless you want a really BIG windshield, it's probably the best, easiest swap out there.  I'm going to order one for this winter.

Okay, thanks for the feedback Johnson.

I ran across another who I think put a Givi 438A on but I think he had to cut part of the shield.

Here is the thread for the other windshield, I had the numbers incorrect before, the numbers are also listed in various configurations on this thread also so I don't know which is correct.

My bigger windshield should be in later this week.  I'll give an update on attaching it.   I looked for the Givi 438A and I don't think they're making it any more.  It's not on their site anyways.  PS250's were only made for 3 years so there aren't a lot of parts out there for them.

Someone called Givi for me and they mentioned a shield they thought might fit, I don't know what shield that was though.

But having a review will be great on the shield once you have it!

Did GIVI give you a number or anything to look for?

Okay I went over this with the girl who emailed or called Givi.

The 438A (currently discontinued) is for the People 250 S, the mount kit  is A438A, in our paperwork we show Givi has 12 of the screens left (assuming Givi's inventory is accurate) but no mounting hardware. I asked her to inquire if Givi has any mounting hardware left in Italy.

Givi has no more of the mounts for their shield in the USA or overseas.

Mr. Johnson,

1. Did you get your taller screen in and installed, can you give a review on it? How do you like it, how well does it block the wind from your face and is it in the way of your face?

2. Does your front brake lever pull in quite a bit more than your left rear brake lever?
