Out of commission for awhile
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:03:15 PM »
I slipped Sunday and went to the ER. Nothing broken, but sprained and bruised my right knee and ankle, pulled the hamstring on my left leg and bruised the left side of my pelvis. Yesterday I had a follow up visit with my doctor. I need to have an MRI to rule out knee damage. I'm really hoping it's not damaged which could mean surgery. It pains me not to ride. The weather here is in the high 70s. I'm missing out on Fall riding. I'm bummed.  :(

TroutB,
Hope you heal up with no issues.
I had knee surgery 2 yrs ago on a worker's comp claim - my employer appealed the surgery. Waited 4 mos for the hearing -then 2 more to get my surgery.
Lost a mountain of sleep - and still had to go to work. Burnt me on my employer after 26 yrs of service to them.
County commissioners canned both the director and asst director last month (55 yrs total they had~!) so "what goes around..."etc.

The scoot will be there when you're healed....are there things you can putter with on the scoot while you heal?
Accessories (sounds like you owe it to yourself!) - full wash and wax, oils, brakes, stuff you've been putting off, etc??
We know how you feel to be forced off your daily scooting - we all look forward to hopping on the seat every morning.
Take care out there TroutBum - and please keep us posted!

Ouch, bummer TroutBum.   :(

I'm sorta in the same boat, tore the calf muscle on my left leg last Saturday.  Can't work (I am a carpenter, self employed so no wc) but can still ride the scoot...  the beauty of a shiftless motorcycle.   :)

Get better soon.

DadGum Cosmo....You too?
I do maintenance for the county.....with a union, so I've got sick time, etc.
When I throw out the bearings on something (knee, collar bone, shoulder) I can take time off---
Trully wish all folks could say the same. I know how fortunate I am in today's economy.
Lately some of the parts just seem to be wearing out - I wasn't exactly a kid when I started there 26 yrs ago after working for the Airforce as a civilian. (& snagged that job only because I was a VietNam veteran)
Hopefully McDonald's will still have their hire an old scooterist when I need them.
Take care - heal quickly - ride safe!

Sorry to hear about your injury Trout. I really missed my scoot when recovering from heart surgery in the summer. Hope you heal fast!

Should have had those knobby tires on.

Hope you mend soon, how'd the scoot make out?

Speaking of fallen members, anyone heard from Mike Green as of late?

Thanks for the well wishes folks.

I slipped in my house. I have a sunken living room. While hastely transitioning from my kitchen to the living room I stepped on a section of the wooden floor that was extremely slippery. Since I had forward and downward momentum my righ leg twisted and my left trailed behind. I twisted my right knee and ankle and landed on my left side pulling the hamstring and bruising my pelvis. It was one of those oh #%^* moments.

Fess up, time to stop drinking.

If that were only true maybe it wouldn't have hurt so much.  ;D Besides Stig's the drinker. Just read some of his posts. The man slurs his written words. ;)
