Welcome to the forum  :)

Yeah, it's been done. Anytime you can decrease turbulence in the intake and exhaust ports you'll increase performance. Opening them up a little is good to.

Pretty sure there's no washer or restriction in the exhaust. If there is let me know...

Good buy on the ZX. They're great scooters. Sounds like you're catching the performance bug quick  ;)

Uhhhh... Well, I've ordered stuff from http://www.provoscooter.com/ and http://www.provoscooter.com/  They're good. Neither is the cheapest by any means.

You've also got http://www.racingplanetusa.com/index.php?sessID=64e80e5bfa495d5543dba3603a281d97
Ordered from them... they're good. No complaints here.

http://www.partsforscooters.com/ is a great place for generic scooter parts. Nothing model specific Shipping can be a little much sometimes if you ask me...

http://www.exportstrength.com/ Now there's this place. Located in Taiwan. Prices are awesome. Shipping is free (believe it or not). Quality is questionable. Expect a couple weeks for shipping. Now... I do have a story about a variator boss I ordered from them in August. It took a while to arrive and I was busy so it took me at least a month before I could get around to putting it on my Z. When I finally did I realized just before I put it on that it was the wrong size. After I had taken the scooter apart...  >:( I immediately emailed them and I received an email back within a day. The guy was apologetic, and said he would get the right part out right away. I over looked the fact that he said in the email he would send me a 38mm boss. I ordered a 36mm boss. 2-3 weeks later I get the package and surprise surprise it's the wrong size again. Miscommunication... It happens. I can't believe I overlooked it in the email. Emailed the guy again yesterday. He emailed me back today and apologized again. Said he would have the 36mm sent out right away... I have ordered items from them three times and this is the first time there has been a problem. I've had no problems with the quality of their parts but you definitely get what you pay for. Overall, even though this past experience has left me with a slight sour taste in my mouth, I'm happy with the customer service. I really like that when I send them an email I get a response within a day. There are parts suppliers out there that could take notes from that. Granted, they shouldn't have screwed up the order in the first place.

Finally there this place for stock Kymco parts. http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/ They are very reputable. Shipping is a little high.

Whew... There it is. There are others out there. Some have been mentioned on here before. Ebay has some used body panels and stuff sometimes, but I'd be careful with ordering new performance parts on ebay. There it is. Keep us up to date as you build it. And by all means, feel free to ask questions.  :)
