Gear Oil Level on the LIKE200i

While doing an engine oil change to winter weight oil (.....found only one 5W50 oil as recommended by owner's manual and the bottle stated it was "the perfect oil for vintage autos." ?? So, bought the 5W40 Synthetic. Ideas/opinions here, anyone?))

...today, I removed the fill bolt for the gear oil and went fishing in the hole for the oil level with a piece of soft wire, bent in an "L" shape. I recently drained the gear oil and refilled, per the manual, with 180ml of oil. I did find the level of the oil and it was about 3/8ths of an inch below the fill hole. This is with the scoot on the center stand.

So, this indicates to me that I should keep measuring 180ml of gear oil into the scoot when I do gear oil changes.
It would be easier to just fill until it weeps out of the fill hole - but apparently this would be filling the scoot with more oil than is recommended by KYMCO.

I fill till full in the fill hole, but that is with the bike on the kickstand, not the center stand.

I find the transmission works better with the oil fuller than 180ml. I can't remember where I read to do it the way I do it. When I did my first transmission fluid change I noticed the tranny working better immediately. Basically it's seem less, unnoticeable when you fill it yhe way I do.

Maybe what we have to do -guys- is catch somebody with a new LIKE 200i > before they service it~!< and have them measure what comes out - but first, go fishing to see where the oil level is! As I was laying there on the floor looking at the transmission - I think I can see where that other (210 - 181=) 29ml is.....since the drain hole is not dead on the bottom of the case.

Apparently the transmission oil level is not super critical..... which is a good thing -

  If you overfill the gears will beat the oil into foam, and it will flow to the air intake filter,  messy on my scoot anyhow,.

First time I drained I marked the level on a jar, and refill from that mark.

Well you're screwed if you go anywhere that uses the metric system. Have you heard of a deciliter? Can you convert that? That's 200 ml. $20 if you know what a ml is. All you had to do was look up measurments of volume. Any who, my Like 200i produced just over 2 dl of gear oil when drained.

Welcome and please keep us posted on how you're getting on with your new LIKE 200i.
Since the cyclepedia manual says there would be .21 liter at disassembly, and both this manual & the owner's manual state that a fluid change would involve .181 liter - it is a puzzle. My Kymco service manager said I should follow the owner's manual with .181 liter, which is what he does in the shop for these gear oil services on the LIKE. He mentioned that there are a few bikes and scoots in his store that "do not have the oil filled to the threads".
He also said that since the amounts are so close - using either would not likely affect the gear operation.

I go by the service manual spec. No need to second guess. Plus you don't want gear oil making its way into the breather tube and mucking up your air cleaner box.
