Tick,tick,tick
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:07:57 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm the happy owner of a 2013 DT, and I've only had it for a bit over a month. I'm not sure if it was always there, but recently I noticed a quiet ticking when using the throttle at lower speeds. I'm not sure if it's there at higher speeds since the wind noise drowns any other sound out. It seems to increase in frequency as the engine increases in RPMs. Is this a normal sound for your bike, or should I ask about it when I bring it in for its first servicing on Friday?

Thanks in advance!

mine is a 2011 and i don't get that could be the tires to maybe something in the tire .could be the rollers cause im sure it has rollers but it being brand new they shouldn't do that not at a 1 month stage.but if it's bothersome i'd absolutely would bring it up

It's not really bothersome, and sometimes I don't even notice it. I've been writing it off as some kind of rotor in the front spinning or some electronic part running. I think I will definitely ask though.

I have a different scoot and I seem to hear that sometimes.... similar to the tick sound of a sparkplug... sometimes I hear it, sometimes I dont... sometimes depends on what helmet I use... hmmm...strange tho...

   Put your scoot on the center stand , start it up and listen near the tranny, it most likely is the rollers,.    2011 300i downtown  41,000 km and still ticking thats about 24,000 miles,.

Yep, tell the boys at the scooter shop.
{I remember the first time I heard my rollers rattling at idle.....never heard that before.
A brand new scoot doesn't make that noise....then the noise after it was a few days old.
Thought something was wrong. The folks here assured me it was OK. And it was. It's a scooter noise.These things makes noises like no other vehicle I've ever been around. When I bought my scooter - I had never heard a scooter up close. --I haven't seen a scooter in almost a month---that's how rare they are 'round here.}

This is the way i see it i wear a Modular Helmet only time i hear anything is if i crank my DT before i put my helmet on it gets me to point A & B.sure they all have issues and there all different issues not 1 person has the same and if they do it's more or less different.i've had Suzuki,Yamaha,Honda they all have something going from time to time But this damn DT 300 is so far the best riding scoot i have ever been on.Rollers and weights do clatter some louder than others.there easy to work on the weights are easy to change the belts also.but i grew up on Flats track racing and Dirt track racing and have been around the block a few times but hey even i learn new things from time to time if we new everything we wouldn't be on this forum.:) i come here to learn and socialize ive met some really good people here men and woman and i thank everyone for there insights  all in all it's all a good thing okay im rambling i'll shut up now .lol

You're driving a LIKE too?!
Got the same thing on mine when I hit those holes and road improvement 'lips' in the dark......comes from nearby......often hard to hear over the crashing noises of the Sears tool department under my seat.
