Allstate Moped- to quote the add at the time it "whips out" 2.2 HP. I bought it used for $60. Got about 90mpg so it was great for a 15 year old kid!  ;)

My original 1973 Honda CB350 got sold a long time ago.  Husband bought me the same bike a couple of years ago for my birthday, but I prefer riding the Downtown.

It was a 1972 Yamaha R5C 350 docile till 2200 rpm then became the Antichrist.    did a superman impression more than once and my first wheelies were effortless and sometimes unexpected.

Back in late 1977 I purchased a Honda CB750F. Great bike!

Well, the little Honda with the Hunt's tomato can/exhaust wasn't mine -though it was my first ride.
The next 2 Hondas I had were stolen so quickly in San Antonio while I was in medic training that I am only certain that they were Hondas....
Then I took the insurance check and went out in the sticks to a dealer that sold some serious stuff.
I swear the place had a dirt parking lot....and I really had my heart set on the black one with gold lettering -but when he rolled out this yellow one I went weak in the knees. Screaming-give-me-a-citation-yellow and Chrome and gleamingly polished alloys.

The check from the Honda made a nice down payment and I took it back to my rental and kept it in the kitchen.
Fortunately I received orders for Vietnam shortly thereafter - otherwise this thing would surely have killed me.   Why the Commando? I wasn't so sure there'd be much more time to be careful in life....something like that.

Alongside the BSA Thunderbolt and the Triumph Bonneville -these Commandos are my favorite bikes of all time.(though if I was going to go to Chile from here, it would be on a BMW)

I dont have any pics of it, but like most folks of a certain age who learned to be stupid on motorcycles in the UK it was an Elsie :) (Yamaha RD125 LC)

It was a blue mk1, an '82 that I picked up in early '83 real cheap because the previous owner had dropped it rather badly and it needed work. Talked the admins of the college dorm I was in to let me fix it in an unused shed on the dorm grounds. Couple of months later, blue 2-stroke smoke and addiction to riding were the result :D For a 12hp 125, that was one hairy beast. Of course, while fixing it I derestricted it so it had a few more ponies than the 12 it came out of the shop with ;)

My third two-wheeler...36 years ago, not quite as studly as JJJ.   ;)

That CB750 took me lots of cool places man I miss those days.

My buddy Jose hotel manager.  Didn't have a key to the room, had to go through an open window.  Funny story, more about my naivety than anything, but drank at the bar across the street from late afternoon until bartime, drank with two girls and the bartender took turns buying each other drinks.  Walked out of bar at closing time one girl on each arm this guy approched us and asked "how much for two girls?" I slurred out a "nothing" and they split, making a bee-line to the parked semis.  I staggered home and through the open hotel window scratching my head.  ;D

Normal is boring.
