Almost 84MPG!
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:15:59 AM »
438.6 miles on 5.23 gallons. That's 83.86MPG. I'm pretty happy! I checked somewhere around 3000 miles too, but I was only getting around 65MPG. That was a four tank check too, so these checks should be really accurate. What's changed? I've slowed down a little. I used to always go 50 to 60 traffic permitting, and now do 45 to 50 typically unless the cars around me are going too fast. Also I did my tune up a few hundred miles ago with a new spark plug, and air filter. I adjusted the intake valve just a little bit too.

Nice!!  I know my mileage would improve if I would slow down some, and I am really surprised I have not gotten a ticket yet.  My Like 200i is averaging between 50 to 60 mpg.

You know....just to throw a thought out there on the table.....maybe your scoot would not be tossing codes at you if you did not ride WOT all the time! Your mpg's would improve, your scoot would not be scared every time it saw you coming, the police could go back to their donuts....the parts would last longer, and your body would be in less danger!
....just sayin'

@3600 miles, getting about 82mpg but it is going down now that riding in temps in the 30's and 40's (even though I have gone to 75W90 synthetic gear oil and 5W40 synthetic engine oil) I've increased my idle time to insure the scoot is ready for the cold ride. On a scoot you cannot keep the engine speed down while the engine warms as you drive gently - scoots like to do 4800 rpm at slow ground speeds! So, I sit for a time to let it warm.

An observation with the EFI on my LIKE 200i: cold starts are nearly instantaneous - but if engine warm or recently shut down it cranks a second or two longer to start. And only sometimes it hesitates a second before the starter can turn over the engine - at all temps. Sorta like a grunt before it kicks over and starts. In all conditions though, it starts with no worries. To this observation other LIKE owners reply------
And it would be nice to have a kick stater to play with, and for back up - but I understand why you cannot have that device on a fuel injected scooter engine.

PLUS you are in southern California - you lucky canine! That has some to do with good mpg's.
Where-as some of us are getting ready to ride into the snow! My wife keeps saying we should move to Florida, "Plus, you could ride your silly scooter all year!"
Yes, well if I didn't have 6 kids up here in Ohio - and an untold number of grandkids (the Mrs even knows all their names! - for Pete's sake!)
We go to St Pete Beach every summer - scoots everywhere down there! Kills me..........

Yeah Stig, I like where I live so much I really don't travel much. I'm a half mile from the ocean. I like my staycations!
