What Does Met-in Mean?
« on: August 15, 2009, 06:20:48 AM »
I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 2006 People 250.  Love it.  Wondering what MET-IN means is driving me crazy.

Under seat storage.
Yet I would like to hear explanation of the term itself.

Taiwanese for seats open stupid!  I have been wondering and joking about this myself.  Wish you didn't have to turn the key on to open the seat - I know I will eventually forget its on and run my battery down.  My Aprilia opens just by twisting the key - you don't have to turn it on.

On the P250 (not the PS250, which I can't tell ya about, never having experienced one), turn the key left, and the seat latch opens with the engine off. With the engine on, push-and-turn-left opens the seat without shutting off the engine.

There's a "Met-In" light on the instrument cluster to tell if the seat is open, as well. I removed the underseat light, and carry an LED flashlight, instead, btw.

So the next time I left the seat open, I wouldn't have to ask a Vanderbilt cop to give me a jump start.  :)

On Beverly there was a clearly visible switch that you could block when you work with the seat up, so the light does not work.
On People I think the switch is somewhere around closing latch and you can't do that easily.

On the P250, you need a screwdriver to push the metal bar down for the seat latch. Then, you have to remember to "pop" it again before you try to close the seat.

If you remove the regular bulb and install an LED-it would probably take a month to run the battery down.

You can also pull the under seat lamp out and uncouple the quick disconnect for the lamp.  Pretty easy and worth doing first if you are going to pull the under seat tub out to say get at the fuses.

We could tell you but then we would have to **** you.    Seriously everyone has wondered about some of the terms in the manuals.   I think you would need to find a Taiwanese to ask.

I believe it might stand for helMET in, as in you put your helmet under the seat, could be wrong though.
