Please Help!! Xciting 250 running bad!!
« on: November 27, 2013, 01:21:46 AM »
Hello all, So down to business... I have a 2006 xciting 250 with around 4000mi on it, and recently I have been having an issue with the motor idling all over the place. For example, start it up in the morning idle comes up so does temp then idle comes down. I ride the scooter for about 10 min or so during witch time the temp gauge goes all the way down to zero and then the funny idle starts (2200, then 3000, the it settles at 3500 rpm with a heavy gas smell and an occasional ticking/clunking sound from the motor). So I blip the throttle a couple of times nothing, pulled over to inspect bike then the temp gauge shoots back up to normal in a matter of a m/s and the idle stays high for about another 30 sec to a min then it goes back down . Idle smooths out gas smell goes away as well as the funny clunking sound. Back to riding a few more minutes get to another stop light look down temp is back to zero with my idle stuck at 3500 again. Same funny smell and sound!?!?!?! What in the heck!?!?!? checked carb it's clean, checked fluid in reservoir all looks good, also checked for a loose wire somewhere... NOTHING!! please help!
