Forum question (Why no auto notify)
« on: December 18, 2013, 02:25:19 PM »
I've been on several forums over the years and have even been moderator/super moderator/admin on a couple..

Why doesn't this forum have the switch flipped to allow your choice of auto notification on any topic you reply on? I've looked through the User CP several times and can't find this option.

If I reply to a topic, I want to read what others reply.. And I don't want to have to remember to push the "notify" button to do so.. Most forums have a choice on the notify issue, but it's not an option here..

Could it become an option? Or did I just miss it in the User CP?

Those are over a few years, so there's a hodgepodge of cameras used in them. Some are a crappy Samsung idiotproof, but most are Nikon D80 and Nikon P510.

I switched to the P510 this year and love it. Much more compact than a DSLR and then carrying a couple lenses. Great quality and light capturing. And the 20-1000 zoom ability (physical, not digital) is excellent.. I just wished I could easily put filters on it.

All of this vacation was with the P510..  http://s66.photobucket.com/user/djpagel/slideshow/13%20Vacation
I was really happy with it.. There's a bunch of photos inside the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, MI and it's DARK in there.. All the photos were still done without flash. But a steady hand helped. :)

I'm glad you found it, so don't leave until you tell us where it's located!

Excellent idea!!

Go to "Profile"

And then, the reason I didn't see it, just above the orange bar are 3 horizontal buttons. The middle one is "Modify Profile" and when you put your cursor over it, the pull down shows 6 options, with the 4th one being "Notifications". Click on that.

And the second box was the animal I needed. Clicking that activates the action where any topic you start or reply to, you'll now get an email to tell you.. The third button is where you set how often you want that notification. I'm an Instant guy, because I consider forums like a conversation and I don't want to ignore anyone. :)

And, even if I'm unable to reply right away, the email is sitting there to remind me there's been a reply and I have an instant link to go right back to where I was in the topic.

And the little yellow "I like bacon" guy is what I use on all forums because he's easy to pick out, marking where I last replied, so I know where to start reading..

Oh, and I do like bacon. :)
