Picked up a new toy!
« on: January 05, 2014, 03:51:26 AM »
Hello all!

I am excited to have just purchased a 2005 LC super 9! I work at an awesome scooter shop here in Giainesville Fl called New Scooters For Less. http://www.newscooters4less.com

A customer was playing volleyball at the University of Florida and is going to Italy to play professionally and needed to trade in her scooter. It had almost 12000 km and is cosmetically pretty rough. It is not something that we the shop would want so I offered her $100 for it and she accepted! It has almost 165lbs of compression and has just been sitting for 6months.

I noticed that the weep hole is leaking just slightly. Is this something that needs immediate attention or is it a bypass so the coolant does not make it into the case/chamber?

Haven't had any time to work on it. We are pretty slammed this time of year with the spring semester starting.

Heres a picture of the Super9. I cleaned out the carb really well and put in a new battery and she fired right up! I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that the CDI had not be de-restricted yet. I just unplugged the green connector and BOOM. 10000 rpm. Next will be the variator boss.

So my next mod is going to be machining down the variator boss/getting a new one. Then on to 1500rpm clutch springs and 15% contrast spring. A question about the clutch springs though. I weigh about 135lbs dressed. Would I benefit from a different clutch spring rpm, say 2000? Not sure if rider weight would have an affect on this.

Thanks.

So I believe my stator is not working as all of my AC stuff (headlight, running tail light, interment panel)  are extremely dim when the scooter is running.

The scooter is a 2005 LC. Do the LC and AC share the same stator? Where can I find one of these?

Thanks

While I was at work yesterday I checked the voltage regulator and it ended up being bad. Luckily one of the techs I work with had and extra he saved off another scooter. Also the headlight bulb was shorting so I replaced that. Everything is good! The stator is putting out 13.7v to the battery and all of the running lights work.

At work today I picked up some 5gram rollers to try out and here are the results.

The belt is a Bando 23100-KEB7-9000

Run1: 8.5g rollers rpm@7200-7500 during accel top speed 44mph

Run2: 5g rollers    rpm@8200-9000 during accel top speed 38mph

Run3: 5 and 8.5g rpm@8000-8200 during accel top speed  42mph

Acceleration Times 0-40:

5 and 8.5g rollers: 14seconds

Just 8.5g rollers:  11.75seconds

What do you guy think about these numbers????

I don't get it. But very helpful info. Thank you.

Any way, I was just curious to see what others thought about the lighter roller weights performing so poorly. I have the stock clutch and derestricted stock variator.

In Wordslinger's thread "sister-sister" he was running 4.5g rollers I believe and said it put the scooter in the power band at 9000rpm or so. My power band seems more around 7200-7500rpm. Just curious.

So I was coming into work the other day and took a fast left and the front tire started to slide out on me. Looks like I need to replace that crap china tire. The rear has a nice Michelin Pilot Sport sc, expensive and I don't think you can get them any more. I am looking at the Michelin City grip. Looks like a nice tire. We have many different brands at the shop and that one looks/feels the best.
