Some of us Gringos are looking at minus F temps out there.
Maybe even too cold to do some stuff on your scoot in the garage [and The Mrs. won't stay gone long enough for me to roll my LIKE into the kitchen to install my new Bestem 929 top case]
Hooked up the "Jr." battery tender to the scoot [ my battery was at full charge after less than 5 mins] and topped up the coolant on son's '05 xB {at $21 had to buy a gal. of Toyota 50/50 'pink' to add a cup!) and changed the oil in both the xB's. I swear, the bottom of my son's 9yr old xB looks like it was made from stainless steel - the whole underside is clean as an 8th grade cafeteria tray under there!
Put a blanket on the LIKE and buried it in the front of the garage.....2 days hope to ride in the rain!

I'm putting these here just to remind me what my scooter looked like just a few days ago.....


And the early morning spring rides through the sleeping city......in 40 min runs - because I had to get off that pretty stock seat~! BIG difference in the seats ,eh? This spring I'll put the stock seat back on just to remind myself how it used to ride. [two nuts & it's changed out]

Mine has been put away since the day I got it..
The roads have been covered with salt since October and I don't like corrosion. I don't have a place to wash anything when it's cold out, so I just prep everything by changing oil (if a 4 stroke) and adding SeaFoam and running the engine to get it through the system. Little jets plug fast!!!

This weather pattern started about 5-6 weeks early this year. Today I got everything done this morning while wearing a t-shirt and a sweatshirt, and it was -10F!! I've gotten accustomed to the temps to the point of a day that's 20F is a heat wave!!!

Spring is just around the corner.. I'm looking forward to it.

Yes, it was suggested I give the scoot a good rinse after riding on salty roads....by a fellow who lives in the tropics.
But we know you can't go hauling out the garden hose when it's 10 degrees.
BUT, I discovered that my garden pump sprayer works a treat to give a good wash and rinse to the scoot after a salty road ride. I don't go out in salty slush, just the dry white stuff.
I wondered what folks who ride serious $$ bikes and scoot do to protect their rides.
What would you think about this stuff from Amsoil sprayed on the non-engine parts under the scoot that get salt on them.(center stand, etc.)

I've never seen that stuff before. I'm going to look into it as it sounds like good stuff!!

The salt I'm concerned about is the powder that gets into all the little spots.. The roads around here are either white with salt or white with snow. 

I have friends who ride in salt, but they have a heated garage to wash up in.. I don't, so I don't ride.  If nothing else, I look forward to that first spring ride that much more.
