Cold but clear roads for a ride.
« on: January 12, 2014, 06:43:25 PM »
LIKE continues to start and run well after sitting for a few days.
Once again had to get off after 1.75 hours due to cold hands.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Where do you find these deserted roads? Is it just because you ride early in the morning, or is that a camping area I see behind the scooter?

Both.
I ride early to stay out of traffic, and freq. ride over to the State Park, about 1.5 miles from my house. Few people around for the most part - except joggers, bike riders, deer and Virgil the park manager, and maybe some Rangers after 7 AM.
Always hit the BP station before it opens - so not rushed by cars - use my debit card at the pump.
For my fun with traffic I take the long way to & from work each day!
I'll be glad when it warms enough to spend a few hours sorting the installation of my new double-lighted Bestem 929 top case. I've taken to riding with the hi beam on in traffic, always. Early rides I use low beam.
In short - With my present experience of only 4,500 miles and given the physical size of the LIKE 200i , my age and given the habits of the car drivers around me, I limit my scooter riding  to work commuting, and leisure riding away from traffic whenever possible. This habit might change when/if I get that big wheeled, larger engined scooter!

I have the bigger scoot and the only difference I see is I'm less nervous at 60MPH for the short distance on the state road to take me to the sticks. Traffic and speed demons are too unpredictable. Love my 300 but miss my Like. She was just so pretty.
Stay safe and warm.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. I have also been riding with high beam on in traffic. Just helps make me more visible. That case will make your Like even better. I just finished installing a transmitter on my brake light that activates a "cyclops" brake light on my helmet for even more visibility in my early morning commute to work. Best of luck on that scooter search.
