Well, heck, YES you can~!
« on: February 02, 2014, 12:51:06 AM »
A local story which has been in the news around here all week.
He loved his HD.....so, he took it with him.
Was quite a thing to see.... going down the road on a trailer to the cemetery.
His family members were  just following his instructions.

I hope he wore his heated clothing.

I wonder if they will let him ride in Heaven with loud pipes?

Someone will dig him up just to steal that clean Electra glide. You know what they say about HD pirates:)

Ride on, ride on Brother! RIP.

Overheard from one of the bystanders:

"Sure hope he's got some Stabil in there."

Wow! Just saw the video on CNN.com. Everytime they went over a bump I expected him to slump over. Cudo's to the 5 undertakers who made that happen. Reminds me of the guy who was buried in his Cadilac. Must have been expensive. I told my family to drain the gas out of the scoot and use a match. P.S. my casket will be the top case LOL.

I have ever seen. And a terrible waste.
His family should have sold the HD and given the proceeds to saving sick and dying children or something.

OMG...This post reminds me of an old B-movie from the early 70's! It was called "Psychomania" It's was low budget English flick about a gang up to no good on their Norton/Triumph motorcycles. Classic! There was a scene where one of the members was buried with his motorcycle! I'm old (48) & I'm sure many of you don't understand the terminology of a "B Movie" I grew-up with these & yes they are terrible, but I love them just the same!

Psychomania Trailer:

BTW: B-movies were created for Drive-in Theatres back in the day. You would usually get to see three movies & the 1st two here considered B-Movies!

While agree that it's dumb and a waste, it's HIS motorcycle and funeral..

My opinion has zero bearing on what he wanted.. His opinion has zero bearing on my funeral, just as it should be..

Im not so sure its dumb a waste maybe. A funeral needs to be a celebration of a life lived not a come to Jesus service. Sorry once you dead its too late. Regardless of your faith or religion. But what I did notice was the family seemed to be more involved with the actual service. I don't know for sure but it look like that was a family members pickup an proberly their trailer also.Looked a little old for a funeral home vehicle an the red wouldn't be a color a funeral home would choose. It appeared for an article that i read the sons actually helped guide the box into the ground. The sons helped the old man build the plexiglass box he was in.
This family has done something most family's couldn't or wouldn't do for a family member especially a parent.

Around here they make you add a cement top after you go in the ground, so that when the coffin rots the ground won't drop and you have all those depressions in the ground. If they don't do that in this case there will be one hell of a hole in the ground if the glass ever breaks.

I read some additional info about this and the whole plexiglass box assembly was lowered into a modified septic tank which had a concrete lid that went on the top.  Very "similar" in theory to the concrete vaults that "coffins or caskets" are placed in at many funerals in the North Texas area.  In theory it keeps the casket relatively dry when the concrete lid has a seal on it.  Of course if the ground becomes totally saturated with rain/floods/etc. the water can sometimes enter the vault and everything gets wet.
