custom seat and other stuff
« on: February 26, 2014, 11:27:10 PM »
I have added a custom seat for more leg room. The first one is before the new handlebars and a few other things.

This one is after changing to motorcycle style handlebars, a Dragon Custom riser, and a GPR muffler.

I found a local shop that makes custom motorcycle seats. Same principle. I did not spend much time measuring with him, just told him, or rather, showed him how high and we talked about foam. He had some neat stuff from Germany that is comfortable without being too thick. Mine is only about an inch and a half lower than OEM. Being taller, I was looking for leg room.

I also cut about 2 inches from the two arms that go from the butt bumper or backrest into the seat proper. That allowed the  butt bumper to go back a couple more inches. Then the handlebars changed my position to more like a cruiser.

I like what Sissy Mary wrote, something like, riding the Xciting 500 like a Gold Wing.

I have also added some PIAA running lights, mounted down low on the sides of the front fender. Nice at night and on the highway, very visible.

The lights don't drain the battery? They would be nice to have. :-*

G'Morning Sissy Mary, the lights do not seem to drain the battery. I have an on-off switch so they are only on when I want. They are PIAA, really bright. On back roads the running lights complement the high beam so the road is lit up. It seems that other drivers are more aware.

They were easy to install, until I got to the wiring. Small hands are an asset when running the wires behind the front cowl.

Where do I get the aluminum runners for the foot well?  I must not know how to search for them because I can never find them.

They are standard accessory items. You can get them direct from Kymco. :-*

Now I want to learn how to post pics instead of links. All mine have been too large.

Hey bongoman :-)

Nice looking ride. Can you post better pics of the handlebars?

And... how have you kept that red so nice? I keep my scoot on the side stand, and the left side is almost silver/grey in places. I do keep it under cover when at home, but it sits in the sun when I park.

The red stays so nice because of plastic conditioners like Bike Spirits and Plexus. Spray it on, wipe it off and admire the shine. Mine also stays in the garage when I'm not on it. On camping trips, I often take the cover for protection.

as for pictures, I will learn how to adjust the size so I can post pictures and not just links.
