Stig
My wife just purchased a '14 LX that she'll take delivery on next week. It's currently being shipped out here to SoCal.
While I have been around bikes my whole life, this is her first. As a matter of fact, the MSF course for her isn't for a couple more weeks. She has ridden a couple of my dual sports and also my scoot, but not a whole lot on each. I bought my first scooter, Sym HD200, last spring. The older I get(54)the smaller my bikes are getting. The HD has been a pure joy to ride.
I'm loving the ability of my SYM and I've had some great rides solo and with groups. I joined a Meetup group out of Long Beach, CA in which we've gone to some places I've never been to. Good group of folks, these scooter peeps!
I'll get some pics posted as soon as we get the LX home.
Any suggestions as noobs to Kymco?
Thanks for all your informative post's.
Sam
Sam, you have my fav scoot! What color HD did you get?
I love my LIKE 200i - it is a great urban scoot! - really - but everything I read about the SYM HD seems to take it all up a notch! Power, top speed - two different leagues between the SYM and the LIKE.
The LIKE is very well made - from China, not Taiwan, under the eyes of KYMCO.
Veteran LIKE owners advised me to:
1) check all nuts, screws, bolts for tightness (mine were perfect)
2) change engine and gear oil upon delivery (put in some good non-synthetic)
3) If you will be riding in the wet -change out the Kendas for something like Michelin City Grips (Kendas long wearing but lousy grip in the wet)
Valves, etc. should be good until the first service - per the manual.
I did the break-in per the manual and my scoot uses no oil. Takes patience, though.
I also think you will find the LIKE 200i much easier to service than is your SYM.
Ride safe - and do send pics of (both~!) scoots when you get the time. A lucky couple~! - with a LIKE and a SYM HD!
