700 Ha-ha-ha

Lot's of us waited for a long time for this 700 and after 3 or 4 years after it was announced, it shows up supposedly in U.S. showrooms but apparently no one is buying them---a few test rides but no purchases! Besides being expensive, is the scoot that bad?

Its a fine scooter. Smooth fast with good brakes.

But as you say its in "rarified air" at its price. There will be limited buyers and they, as I did will also look at the BMW. I bought neither as almost 10 large is a lot in spend on a whim.

Rode one. Great bike in all ways, but seat slopes u forward, & H bars to close for me. I could not ride it 10 miles with my back.

I too have observed things. I was not interested in said things.

I spoke to my Kymco dealer here in Vegas and he told me they were only gonna sell a limited number of them. Kymco has done its research on the U.S. market and knows the limits with this model. They know the will probably sell more 50ccs to 250cc bikes. They probably know this is primary market for the U.S.

I went and took a look/sat on one at my local dealer. I like the looks but haven't had a chance to ride one. First the large scooters are a limited market to begin with but I think as more people see/try them the market should get bigger because they are just nice if your not hung up on "scooters".

Personally I think setting the price inline with Suzuki/BMW is a mistake. I can't speak toward the BMW but the Burgman 650 can often be had new old stock (I paid $7,500 OTD for a '09 in '10) for good prices and used even better (just saw a 2012 for $5,800 with 8K mi looked new). This makes it hard for anyone getting into this market. I might consider one but the price has to be much lower.

There's a few on Cycle Trader for under $9,000 and even one at $7,893.

Why buy it when you can have a 700 honda for thousands less?

Spoke to a Kymco dealer in Phoenix, he does not plan to stock it. He can buy 2 or 3 scooters for the same price and isn't sure there's that big a market for the 700i. He said he'd be glad to order one if somebody wants to buy it. I have a 2005 Suzuki Burgman 650 bought used for about $3200. Has 33,000 mi on it and I don't plan to replace it anytime soon.

700cc is huge for a scoot, plus the MSRP is outrageous. When I think scooter 250cc seems tops. Just the way I think. There's a lot of MCs that list for 3 or 4k less. I'd like to test ride one though maybe I'd change my tune.

I almost traded my 09 Xciting for a '14 My Road that my LSS really wants to sell. They offered the MyRoad for $7100. I rode it a couple of times. And walked away. I prefer the Xciting. For comfort it beats the MyRoad for a guy with long legs like myself. And the MyRoad felt big and bulky compared to my Xciting. Oh well, I so wanted to like that big twin for its hiway speed and power. I really wanted to 'cause $7100 and a decent allowance for trade-in was a good deal.
