[SOLVED] Should I Anti Sieze my new scoot
« on: March 25, 2014, 03:17:31 PM »
I have a new Super8 150 and I'm wondering if I should go through it and take off some bolts and reinstall with a anti sieze lubricant on the bolts. Just an idea cause I know at some point this scoot will be coming apart for maintenance or whatever. Plus, it's cold out now so these bolts should come off easy, right? What comes to mind is the belt cover and exhaust bolts into the engine. Is this a concern? A good idea? If so, what do you suggest I go through and apply the anti sieze to. Any other helpful tips for a future mechanical repair would be appreciated.

Having just taken my belt cover off for the first time on my LIKE 200i - I will say this: You can remove ALL of those belt cover bolts/screws and put them in your sock drawer at home. That belt cover ain't going no place....with or without them! I think they are just decoration? The KYMCO boys are still mad about something >:(...'cause they used an invisible weld on that cover!
And yeah, breaking the exhaust bolts and redoing them is a thought - but will you need to replace the mostly-one-time-use gasket when you do? You migght want one in hand before you do.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Yes, especially on those exposed to heat like spark plugs and exhaust manifold...
