I'm with you on that.. I already am fully aware of the dangers that are associated with this pastime, thus I don't need to see anyone injured on a motorcycle, let alone falling down steps, or screwing up on a skateboard.
My issue is that I find the joy of riding worth the risk that comes with it.
I put over 500 miles on my BMW R1200GS this last weekend, riding with friends and gathering Grand Tour towns
http://www.glmc.org/grand_tour.php.. While I love my big Beemer, I had JUST as much fun today riding my People 50 to and from work and getting a few items at the grocery store..
The BMW miles consisted of riding both Milwaukee and Chicago suburbs, and being fully aware of the fact that people are not used to seeing bikes on the streets (first decent weekend we've had) and the same goes for the ride to work, as folks aren't awake and while I'm a big guy, riding with bright clothing and a white helmet, they're still not looking out for a 50cc scooter travelling at 40mph.
Basically, be careful out there. Right now we have new drivers, drivers who aren't used to seeing motorcycles of any kind for the last 6 months, and to make matters worse, Momma Whitetail deer are chasing off last year's fawns to go have this year's fawns.. Last year's fawns don't understand why Mom is doing this and are confused. I see more deer hit in April than any other month, and they're typically last year's fawns.. That doesn't even consider all the skunks, raccoons, possums, and everything else that's just waking up after a long winter's nap..
So, again, be careful out there!!
