ECM Reset

The other day, the check engine light flashed 45, an O2 Sensor failure.  There was noticable black smoke coming from the exhaust.  My dealer sent me a new O2 Sensor and the smoke went away. 

The problem is that the shop manual states: "If the Diagnostic Trouble Codes are not cleared from the ECU memory they will continue to display until cleared, even if the fault has been addressed. Always clear the trouble codes after addressing a fault to see if the action was successful. If the fault is still present the DTC will show again."

My nearest dealer is a nine hour round trip away, so it is not convenient to have him reset the ECU with his diagnostic tool/reader, but I cannot verify the problem is solved until the code is reset.

Does anyone know a reset procedure for the GTi 300/ GTi 200s?

Copied from the on-line pay-to-view cyclepedia service manual for my Kymco LIKE 200i:

With key off.....Kill switch set to RUN position.

Turn key on wait 10 seconds (do NOT start scooter) ....then give it full throttle for 10 seconds then release to fully closed.....after 5 seconds light will blink twice continuously.

After the CELP light goes out the the self-diagnosis memory of the ECU is cleared. If the CELP remains lighted, a trouble code is still present.
I hope this helps. Our LIKE 200i's are electronically fuel injected.

Sadly, the Check Engine light is flashin the 4 long and 5 short flashes while holding the throttle open for the 10 seconds, so I suspect the ECU or procedure is different for the GTi 300/200.   It is not clearing.

Once the key in On, the Check Engine light keeps repeating the code flash series at least three times.

Another surefire method for clearing codes on ANY computer-controlled engine is to disconnect the battery ground for 30 or more seconds and then reconnect.

Here's how to clear the codes on the Yager;

SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESET (CLEAR
FAILURE CODES) PROCEDURE
(1) Turn ignition switch to OFF, open and
hold the throttle fully.
(2) Turn ignition switch to ON while the
CELP comes on, after 2 seconds the CELP
will be off.
(3) Close the throttle fully when the CELP
comes on again.
(4) When the CELP begins to blink that the
CELP denotes the failure codes.
(5) The self-diagnosis memory data will be
erased when all the failure codes has
showed 5 cycles.

I will see what happens.  It seems that if it is clearing, it is detecting the O2 Sensor issue before I even start it, as soon as I turn the key to the 'On' position.  I do not see any pinched wires or other problems with the wiring, and I will meter the sensor tonight.

It appears to reset, and within a few moments, triggers the 45 code again.  TheO2 Sensor tests out well within the range per the manual, but there does not seem to have a poor connection or pinched wires.  I am stumped as to why the code is still triggering.

Hi, i have kymco downtown 350i   2016.   Please help , reset ECM kymco downtown 350i??

Do what it takes to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds or longer. This will clear all codes in almost any EFI machine. This is assuming the nearest available Kymco analyzer tool is a long ways away and the throttle open-closed technique is ineffective.

I bought 350 new downtown and on the way home stopped working turn signals and gone relay. (Flash relay fault) Since then writes me the display error codes 43,44 , and yellow LED lights engine. Service mam too far away.  My downtow have 200km

Real new bike with those problems needs to go to the dealer for warranty work.
