Engine swapped successfully with GY6! Now no headlight.

Engine swapped successfully with GY6! Now my headlight and dash lights do not work. Can anyone please tell me what might be causing this? A local scooter shop told me to swop the stator on the gy6 engine with the stator on the old kymco engine and it should work, because one part of the stator powers the headlight only! Can anyone please help me out? There is no power coming to the headlight now.
  I have 2007 Kymco agility 125. I just swapped the engine for a Chinese GY6 short case. I had to purchase a gy6 rear wheel, and a gy6 exhaust, because the kymco parts did not fit anymore, so just a heads up for anyone who does this.

What is the engine case number on each engine?

Wow thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure where to look for those case numbers? but until I find them I'm posting a pic of the new gy6 engine. and the other engine is the standard for the year and model scooter that I have.

Turn that engine around, and look at the bottom under the CVT cover. About in the middle of the case between the wheel, and the cylinder. There's a little bump on the bottom that has the #'s engraved. It's not a "tag" but engraved.

The engine you bought is a QMj , and is a standard replacement. Some Kymcos have a Taiwan engine, and different electric system but it's an easy /cheap fix. Post up the #'s, and we'll get you sorted out.

Ok I got those numbers. The GY6 is 1P57QMJ/131002232. The old Kymco engine number is KN25/4100717. I have not swopped the stators yet as I have been super busy. And yes, the scooter runs great and all the lights work except the headlight, even the blinkers work.

Ok. You have several options depending on what you find from here.
The OEM KN25 has one stator part number for USA scooters. The GY6 clones have 8 different stators available. They range fron 6 pole to 12 pole, and come in AC, and DC versions. So you have potentially 15 wrong stators, and one correct one.
On ther original engine... Did the light come on ONLY when the engine was running? That is the usual, and makes the light circuit an AC fired circuit. You can find the power feed to the light switch, disconnect it from the stator, and create a new DC circuit. The dis advantage is battery drain, and peak loading your stator.

You may not actually be charging your battery at the moment anyway because even tho the harnesses connect the wiring config is different.

There is one MAYBE here. Maybe you have the correct stator type/size in the new engine, and your bulb is blown. 16 to one shot but maybe

The real cure is swapping out the OEM, and the GY6 stators. parts for scooters . com sells a stator puller for about 20.00 shipped.

Ok. I replaced the headlight bulb with a new one just to make sure and that did not work (that would have been the fastest fix oh well) I really like your idea to creat a new circuit but I was only able to ride it a couple of times before the engine shelled out, so, unfortunatly, I can't remember if the headlight came on when I turned the key, or only after I started it! so I'm going to swop the stators.
 I do think the charging system is working because it starts right up still. But maybe only because I put a new battery on with the new engine...
