2t oil in the gas tank.

Get a roll of solder from the hardware store. Pull out the spark plug, and feed the solder into the cylinder till it hits the cylinder wall.
You need to spin the piston thru one fire cycle with the kick start. That will push the piston into the solder up against the head, and squish down the solder to reveal how much clearance there is between the piston, and the head.
This is actually a critical step. If the clearance is too small the bike will knock at mid-high rpm  eventually breaking something. or if it is too large a gap the bike will not develop full power.

You want the gap between the top edge of the piston, and the head to be 0.5 - 0.8 mm for a Malossi sport cylinder. I have run them as high as 4mm gap. This is called the Squish band, and is critical. The way it's adjusted is by adding or removing cylinder base gaskets or shims

I am brand spanking new to this and have found your posts and the replies very insightful. I've just recently bought my super8 50 2t ( looks just like yours )and I only have 166 miles on it so far. It  came with a larger dia jet and a smooth boss in a bag under the seat compartment. I'm planning on changing these 2 things after the break in period. I was wondering how your scooter is running. Are you satisfied with the choices you've made? Would you have done anything differnt? And I'm sorry to bother you but can you please tell me exactly what the parts are that you've put on your scooter? Thanks very much for your time. Sent twice, sorry

so far things are good.  Ive been increasing my speed little by little, so far it seems to max out at 40mph. Its not a problem for me because Im really happy with the acceleration.

With a pipe, and proper carb you will have better accel, and reach 50-60MPH depending on the pipe you choose.
I'm glad to hear it is running well.

Same here... We've had steady rain for 3-4 weeks now. I'm getting moldy...

been taking my scoot for a spin every 2 weeks but yesterday there was too much snow and I just let it run a little.

After having done my 70 kit and variator, I'm ready to get a carb and pipe for this next season :)

Missed ya Bro!
Nice to see the snow, as long as it's there, and not here...

Winter is over for us as soon as this front passes. YEYYYYYYYY!

I'd LOVE to but I have a remodel job I'm finishing in the next two weeks. Big $$$'s, and easy work.

Maybe you could find your way up to Carrabelle, and I'll buy the drinks!

I went to key west and swung by moped hospital looking for a pipe and carb but they said theres been a change in ownership and they're not really into the performance parts business. or something like that.

the drive down there from miami is breathtaking!
