Wind noise?
« on: May 04, 2014, 02:52:26 AM »
So I just noticed recently about a noise coming from the front end. I used to always wear earplugs but now have hearing aids that I wear, they do help block out the load noise. But anyway when I am going 30mph or higher I have a higher pitched noise. It goes away under 30mph. I have a Givi windscreen on and I am thinking the noise is just wind noise but could it be from the front wheel? Thoughts from others?

If I want a relaxing ride I take the hearing aids  off,.

When you have diminished hearing (partially deaf), you do not hear high pitched noises. That is what hearing aids are for. The noise you are now hearing is probably a natural noise of some type you just were not hearing before the hearing aids. The solution is to turn off or remove the hearing aids when traveling on higher speed roads. That is what I do and it is much more comfortable.

You're gonna have to narrow it down. Wind shear/wheel bearing/brake pads...
I had a Verucci body that screamed at 40mph. It was a gap between panels that caught the wind just right.

That's what I thought. I know I have read before how some people put a strip of weather stripping on the bottom edge of the Givi to help with noise. I need to put some on my Bestem box anyway to help with that shake so I'll try the windscreen too.

Good idea. Try to narrow it down. The forum is always here.

I put some weather striping down on the bottom edge of the windscreen and the noise is gone. Must of just been how the Givi screen and the body sing to each other. Singing ...gone.

Now you have free time to worry about something else. DRAT!

Glad you found it so easily.

Yeah like when the hell are they going to fill all the damn potholes around here. Some are the size of a Yugo. Can only swerve so much.

Well now you can head on down to the scrap yard, and pick up a couple Yugo's without the scooter screaming at you.
Love a happy ending!

A guy driving a Yugo pulled up to a stoplight next to a
Rolls Royce. He rolled down his window and shouted to the
driver of the Rolls. "Hey, buddy, that's a nice car. You got
a phone in your Rolls? I've got a phone in my Yugo!"

The driver of the Rolls looked over and said snobbishly,
"Yes, I have a phone."

The driver of the Yugo said, "That's great man! Hey, you got
a TV in there? You know, I got a TV in the back seat of my
Yugo!"

The driver of the Rolls, quite irritated by now, replied,
"Of course, I have a television. A Rolls Royce is the finest
luxury car in the world!"

The driver of the Yugo said, "Yes, a very cool car! Hey, you
got a bed in there? I got a bed in the back of my
Yugo!"

The driver of the Rolls, upset that he did not have a bed,
sped away and went straight to the dealer, where he promptly
ordered a bed to be installed in the back of his Rolls Royce.
The next morning, he returned to pick up his car, and the bed
looked superb. It came complete with silk sheets and a
brass-trimmed headboard. It was
clearly a bed fit for a Rolls-Royce. So the driver of the
Rolls began searching for the Yugo. He drove around all day
and finally found the Yugo late that night. It was parked,
with all the windows fogged up from the inside.
He got out and knocked on the window of the Yugo. When there
wasn't any answer, he continued knocking and knocking
until finally, the owner of the Yugo lowered the window, and
stuck his soaking wet head out. "I now have a bed in the back
of my Rolls-Royce," the driver of the Rolls stated
arrogantly.

The driver of the Yugo looked at him narrowly and said, "You
got me out of the shower to tell me THIS?!?!

Hi

I found the standard DT screen to be too noisy and turbulent for me.

I had a large Bike HPS X-creen spoiler on my Honda SW125, a year or so ago, and because it was very effective I decided to purchase one for the DT and fitted it to the top of the standard screen.

Once it was fitted I found, for me anyway, that it transformed the ride and enjoyment of my DT.

I tried a windscreen on a Kawi 1000, and never liked it. I guess they are like many other things in life... an acquired taste.
