2005 Kymco People 50 - Replacement battery
« on: May 07, 2014, 02:57:30 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I am attempting to buy a new battery for a scooter that I purchased with no battery. The Kymco manual I found online says 12v-6Ah, will the below battery be an appropriate choice? Also will it fit in the compartment?

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-power-sport-battery-agm-4l-bs-40-cca-4l-bs/2090287-P?vehicleIdFromReq=-1&isAllVehicle=true&vehicleIdSearch=-1&searchTerm=4l-bs&showTitle=#fragment-2

Thank you all in advance.

A 6ah is a physically smaller battery. Somewhere on the recent posts here are a few size charts for i think two manufacturers. Try searching for those posts, or the battery manufacturer size charts on line.

Bottom line is I believe NO is the answer to your question.

Hi Zombie,

Thank you for your response I assumed the answer would be No, just was hoping I guess.

Doesn't look like Advanced sells then, haha yea trying to use a free $25.00 I have for them before it expires.

I've been using these...

http://www.amazon.com/Volt-Amp-Hour-Alarm-Battery/dp/B0010XNC06

Three years ago they were 4 bucks. they last as long or longer than wet acid batteries, and I have installed maybe twenty of them over the past four years in every brand 50cc bike you can think of. I have had to replace two so far.

You will have to remove the terminal ends on the factory wire harness, and install these...

You can buy a pack of three at Ace Hardware or just about anywhere for a few bucks.
