Kymco Agility 50ccm 2006 won't start
« on: May 08, 2014, 10:17:36 AM »
Hello everybody I'm new to this forum and I hope for some help.

I have scooter Kymco Agility for 8 years now. It worked fine with some minor issues.

Now I have a problem. I recently bought new CDI unit unrestricted. When I installed it the scooter was working fine. I drove for a day and the next morning I started it and drove for 50m and the scooter died. I tried to start again and when I pulled the throttle scooter died and than I couldn't start it again. I've tried with the electric "button" start and kickstarter. Nothing...

1. I have gas in the tank.
2. spark plug is new - and I have spark - tested
3. when I push the button I hear the starter turning
4. I opened carburator and he's getting gas from fuel tank
5. I have new acumulator installed
6. I've tried with the old CDI and same problem

I had problems with the "button" electric start for two years now - so I always kicked started it. With the new CDI the scooter started with no problem (for 1 day).

What can I do? (sorry for my poor english)

it is actually 0.004" or 0.1 mm

If you have spark, and fuel there are just 3 things left... Compression, valve timing, and spark timing. Do a compression test first. 120 PSI minimum.

In service manual it says 0,04mm (picture attached)

I will check today valve clearance. About spark timing and compression. I don't have testers for this so I'll have to visit a service for Kymco.

I think that is a typo in the manuals. I've been setting them to 0.004" forever.

Wait for someone else to chime in.

I can't imagine how you could measure 0,004mm

The tool is from 0,05mm to 1,00 mm

Hey, you two... just decide on what unit to use.... English or Metric....  ;)

I just rock 'em rockers back and forth to feel the gap...  8) 8) 8)

English for the intake, and metric for the exhaust. Now we just gotta settle on a number.

My Kymco is running again. We adjusted the valves to IN 0,04mm OUT 0,04mm and it started right away.

I just wanna ask if the settings are the same because I have 72ccm Naraku cylinder kit on. I just wanna know if anything could be wrong if the valve settings are wrong? Because the IN valve was on 0,05mm and the OUT was 1,00mm and the scooter wasn't working.

The kit used makes no difference. The settings will remain the same.
Glad to hear you got it Bro!
