Can you just bolt a new exhaust on without changing anything else like the jets or airfilter etc ?

Hello Chris,

Well, If I upgrade my exhaust, I will probably go with an 88 main jet.
I have removed the small tube in my stock air cleaner already.
What's your setup? Results?

I' seriously consider modifying the OEM air-box to flow as well as a "free flow" type filter.
2t's, and rain don't mix!

Seriously nice pipe too. The header seems to have a purpose that's missing in ALOT of pipes. It looks like it would have an extremely fast flow rate to evacuate the cylinder quickly plus faster flow back in off the pulse. Like a mini free energy turbo...
I wish I had one to play w/.

Right now

Just Smooth Boss and 82 jet and doing 37 now on the flats. I just want to do mods in simple stages. Too many threads start then leave you hanging on the cliff when no results or details are followed up on. What works and what doesn't work ? I'm not looking to pouring lots of money into experimetal mods. I'd rather spend the money to make the ride safer.

Just kiddin' but realy..

It will be 49cc forever, and maybe get 45MPH. 55 once in awhile.
You can lock in the CVT, and 1/2 the time to top MPH, and be able to maintain MPH much better up hill OR work from the outside in, and get a kit/pipe / carb., and make it 55 all day, and 60-65 once in awhile.

Hello Chris, Yeah, I'm with you. I would like to accelerate stronger and be able to maintain about 40 easily staying at 50cc.
I think any more than that gets us lots of trouble and tickets.
I went ahead and reordered a Naraku Variator and half pulley plus a Naraku exhaust pipe called "Traffic". Also will add a 10mm longer belt with Dr. Pulley Sliders(9)grams. This should give me the small boost I am looking for. I may upgrade to the 88 jet if needed.
Take it easy.

Hate to rain on the parade Super8... The 9gr may be too heavy even with a 2000 contra spring, and a longer belt will slow the bike down UNLESS your original belt was known to be too short or the pulley set you got is larger.

I have found that 5 gram is the heaviest you can run in a 2t. Even taking the Dr Pulley acting lighter into account that would be 6gr Dr. P. I think you will find the bike maxing out top gear way too soon, and never building RPM's. How did you come up with 9gram?

Please post up how it goes to avoid a "dead end thread"

Hello again Z,

Well, I may be way off but I thought the stock kymco roller weights are 8.5gr, so if I put in a 9 gr Dr. Pulley, they should act like 8grs, Is that correct??

You are correct in the numbers. I assumed the OEM weight was 6gram.
If your 8gram oem is correct then 9 will keep your rpm the same.

The Traffic exhaust I believe is a 7k rpm pipe so you should be ok.
The whole object or method of making power in a 2 stroke is to maximize rpm. The more rpm you have the more torque you have. I run 3.5 Polini rollers @ 14k rpm at butt dyno of about 13hp. and perhaps 9-10 ft lbs of torque.

Your set up will be approx 3-4 HP @ 7-8k rpm, and 3-4 ft lbs of torque.
Approx 12-14 seconds 0-50mph times. You can lower the ET's with a Stage6 clutch to approx. 8-10 seconds, and have a pretty solid scoot that will last on the street.
You might be able to improve those numbers (+1-2hp) w/ a lighter set of rollers, and opening up your air box system/up jetting.

Keep us updated...

Thanks Z, Wow, a 14k redline, I know that costs a pretty penny :)

It's the bike listed in the 4 sale section here. I had alot of fun with it over the years but I am tired of throwing time/money at it. No one down here races scooters o it needs a home where it can be used.

When I do sell it the $$$ is going into a prototype ehtanol distillation column that I have engineered, and want to prove out.
