Any truely honest suppliers out there ?
« on: May 14, 2014, 02:55:34 PM »
The most honest supplier that I can think of is Moped Hospital In Key West. Why ? Because they
show no stock on many many items.

The others often claim parts that are marked as in stock " in our European warehouse" .
It turns out that tecnigas, for instance will only sell 100 pieces or more at a time.
And who wants to have to buy 100 pipes for six different scooter models ? No one.
It's too expensive.

So what do they do ? I'm guessing they say it's in stock then wait for 99 other people to place and order before
they buy some then 2 months later, if you are lucky, you get your part that should have taken
a week and a half to get to you.

I wont name names but the two suppliers that get pushed here a lot have never delivered anything
to me sooner than 2 months for parts marked "in stock and ready to ship from our European warehouse".

What is you guys honest experience ?

I dont want to make enemies so if its a bad experience do not name names and if it's a genuinely good one
let us all know.

Thanks !

If it helps I bought my exhaust on eBay from one of the recommended suppliers.
It arrived within a couple of weeks. From the same company I ordered a bbk listed as in stock ready to ship from Europe and I didn't see it for over 3 months and when it came it was shipped from another company.

So based on that check eBay because that stuff seems to actually be in stock.

I'm going to call the rep in the next few days, lets see what he says.  I'm not willing to wait for more than 2 weeks for delivery though.

When I ordered a bunch of parts from Sloan's out of Murfreesboro, TN last winter, I got every part I ordered, both quickly and completely.. That included a seat for a 05' People 50 which I don't think is a standard stock item. :)

http://www.sloansfastandcheap.com/kymcooemparts.htm

My only complaint was that I requested a tracking number but never got one. Instead, I got the parts I ordered in less than 10 days.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully that will help someone !

I want to point out that if you need generic parts for a scooter then there
are a bunch of places that ship quickly.

I'm talking about performance parts. I currently waiting on a carb
that was listed as "available and located in our EU warehouse"
I was billed 21 days ago and the online status is still "processing"

This is the dishonest insanely annoying BS that I am talking about.

It states on the website that AFTER the order is processed, it is FIRST
shipped to the supplier, THEN shipped to the customer.

So I'm out $150 for 3 weeks so far, and who knows how much longer ?
I dont have my part or any sign of it and dont have the money to go get
another. ( and I dont need two ).

And yes I get that it's not easy to order parts from Europe as it was, that you have to buy
in quantity if you are a dealer but if you dont have the item, dont claim that you do
then sit on someones cash for months on end.

So please if you are a dealer please be honest and dont BS about having stuff in stock
in "your" ( yeah right ) European Warehouse ready for delivery
( as soon as the carrier pigeon delivers the order to the clerk who translates it into Spanish,
gives the order to smelt the ore to make the metal to be cast into whatever it is you are buying,
then it is sent back on a row boat across the Atlantic ocean ).

If you don't call them out then how will people know. I ask how long before ordering, and decide then but when I am LIED TO! F_CK THEM!!!

Use SPI. He doesn't lie, and sells at DEALER COST. Louie is a racer that owns a store, and is hoping the volume from the forum will make up for the lower profit per part. Set up a dealer account.

I have used Moped Hospital, and respect Steve BUT they give no slack on pricing.

Now LOTS of the parts we want are not as popular as Piaggio or Honda so we do have to wait. I don't mind. Just be up front, and tell me it has to be ordered.

Three shops I use are:  http://www.spi-parts.com
                                     http://www.partsforscooters.com
                                     http://www.stadiumyamaha.com

For cheap QMB 139 BB kits I go to Ebay.
Same for QMB gasket kits, or any general CHEAP sh** like variators or clutches on FOR SALE bikes or weekend warrior repair jobs

My parents own a home in Key West & I know the Moped Hospital very well. It's a tiny place & I don't think they stock a TON of Kymco product, but they might have a warehouse on KW. Very nice people & have the best rental scooter prices bar-none. I rent a scoot when I'm down there 3 times a year. I paid $14.00 a day for an older (A tad beat-up) People S50 4-Stroke on my last trip. I could barley get past 35MPH on the speedo, so I'm sure I was doing 30MPH. That's fine by me as my parents home is like 10 blocks from Duvall Street.

Zombie: Was your post directed towards me? If so, I don't understand your question. Maybe I'm a tad dim-witted, just help me understand.

Sorry I get excited easily.   I am asking if you could/would stop in to M.H., and ask them about setting up a discount program for Kymco Forum.

15% is a great place to start! you're talking thousands of potential sales...

Ok so here is the good and bad....

Yes Zombie, I agree that www.partsforscooter.com always ship on time from
my experience. It's more of a Chinese scooter , 4 stroke generic type place but they do
have some stuff that may come in handy. They have a lot of stock and cover some 2 stroke stuff.
Well worth a look. If they have they will send it !

SPI. My experience has been both good and bad.
I ordered and exhaust ( rs70 ) from them off ebay and it arrived with 2-3 weeks.
I also ordered a Airsal T6 because it was the only place at the time that said it was in stock.
I placed the order on December 12 2013. I bought a house and moved about a month after ordering it
and called to tell them change of address. All good to this point. Then as time went on I emailed , called,
left messages, over and over. Eventually I went on to their facebook page and asked if they were still
in business ( nicely ). They took that post down but I got no reply and still my calls were not returned
( always went to answer machine ). About a week later the T6 arrived - in a box from RACING PLANET !!!!!

Yes I have the info. No I didn't order if from racing planet. In all it took from 12/2/13 til 3/24/14.
That,s about 3 1/2 months according to my math.

Racing Planet. Ordered an arreche carb on 4/23/14. Just received an email yesterday saying it had been shipped.
Well notification of receipt of shipping anyway. So prob get that tomorrow or  Wednesday if I'm lucky.
So that will be 28-29 days on an order " available in or European warehouse ".
Also Racing Planet seemed to have helped out SPI with the T6.

Moped Hospital. There is a new owner there named Sean ( Shawn, Shaun ?  ) from the UK.
He was very helpful when I called and put me onto the service dept regarding jet size for a super 9
with rs70, T6. He told me that he was wanting to stock back up on parts but the suppliers demand such a high
order quantity that it was cost prohibitive. He didn't say he wouldn't but he was weighing his options.

So that's about it. The solution ? Who knows ?

My suggestion. Combine all of the established suppliers who care and have them all offer the stuff we all want.
Make it so you can pre-order from any of these suppliers and have a total til order completion displayed
on all of their web sites.

It might be tecnigas rs70 pipe kymco quantity pre-ordered 65 pcs. Qty to fill order 100 pcs.
That way they can all chip in for the min order, you can buy from who you like and you
have a fair idea of when you will receive your stuff based on how many pre-orders needed
to complete order.

I've had one bad and one good experience with SPI. That doesn't mean my bad experience was typical !
