6 week wait for a tire

finally after 6 weeks I got my tires on.  I ordered a set of michellen (sp) because the Maxis that came on the scoot were showing cord on the back at 5000.  Of course the tires were back ordered.  I hope I can get more than 5k out of these.  The place that put on the tires said next time it would be more than the 90 dollars they charged this time because the whole left side drive stuff had to come off and it was labor intensive. 
How about you all.  What price do you have to pay?  How many sets of tires do you have to put on in a year?  This is the only thing I am not pleased about with the x500, is the tire issue. Any advice?

...I guess this might sound like a dumb question...Did you keep check on your tire pressure??   ... 5k ...wow...I got 35k outta my front tire on my Agility 50...

I do all my own work but $90. sounds fair (1 hr. labor). 5k sounds terrible though. I agree w/ slinger, must have been a preasure problem. read the manual NOT the tire for the correct preasure, and check OFTEN. I check mine once a week, and will need a few pounds a month.

Hey , Ps.  You can order tires online and save close to the labor cost. Try Surf Canyon as an alternate search engine. I have found some great deals by using them.

..I heave a local shop that charges me 20 for the rear tire change, and 10 bucks to change the front...

Of course, the front tire of a 50cc bike is going to last a LOT longer than the rear tire of a 500cc bike. Weight, speed, inflation and tire composition are all going to factor in.

For the x500, you might try the Michelin Gold Standard for the rear... not a pretty tire, but durable, and grippy without being too soft.

..yup, and I screwed up my rear tire by not keeping a check on the pressure...didn't last 15k...

Bridgestone BT020 on my ex. Kawasaki ZR-7S 750 cc lasted longer than tires on any 50 cc scooter I ever had.

Maybe you always bought soft, sticky, grippy tires for your 50s?

I've gotten nearly 12,000km out of my stock OEM Kenda rear tire on my P250, but it's nearing time to replace it. I recently replaced the front Kenda with a Pirelli GTS 23, as I had two plugs in it (!) and the Pirelli was a closeout. Less than $50, shipped.

Any recommendations for a 140/70-16?  There don't seem to be a lot of choices...

Heidenau K72 for summer or Heidenau K66 for all season. ;)

Unfortunately, I know of no one in the U.S. who sells Heidenau.
