77 Miles, Perfect Day
« on: May 18, 2014, 01:45:32 AM »
Took the back roads to my favorite dirt bike area just to enjoy the ride.  Flat, arrow straight West Texas roads past cotton fields, oil wells and the occasional horse ranch.  93 degrees and bone dry--perfect weather for down this way.  My new-to-me Like 200 just passed 1000 miles and had a full tank of gas.  Averaged 45 mph with a burst or two to 55 to stay ahead of the tanker trucks.  The dirt bike area had about 200 riders and one very happy land owner at $10 a bike.  Yup, mine was the only scooter there and nope, I didn't give in to the temptation to ride the eight mile hare scrambles loop.  Hit the gas station two miles from home on the return trip.  77 miles round trip and exactly 1 gallon to top it off.  Maybe I had a little help from that tail wind going out and coming back.
2011 Like 200i, 2002 KTM 200 EXC and a garage full of 1970s Motocrossers and Trials Bikes.

Cool!
And that mpg sounds pretty much in the neighborhood of what I experience....before I went to a gas can for fill ups in my garage (to avoid the drama and the tendency for the BP pump  to eat my debit card) So, no real idea what kind of MPG I'm getting these past few months...but is running great so I quit thinking about it. It's been a pretty cool little scoot and totally dependable for my 5500 miles of fun and daily commuting to work....in light snow, heavy rain....and temps from 1 degrees Fahrenheit to high 90s.
Keep decent gas in it , and fresh top quality  oils and it should run for a lot more miles.
Ride safe out there pardner!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

With FI you want to treat a 1/4 tank like E. running it low to empty isn't good for the pump, just like a car with FI.

Makes sense, though have never heard this before. Yep, quarter tank is also too close for pushing this scoot home!
