I've had my bike for about 7 months now and I've only done a couple of oil and filter changes in that time. It's done around 18,000km and with winter coming soon the front tire was definitely in need of a change. Just in time too, because my ride into work this morning was a wet one. Put a Pirelli Angel on which felt very different handling wise initially, but after a day I'm used to it.

I took off the CVT covers to check out the belt and it measured a width of 23.5mm. I'm assuming it's the original. Apparently the service limit is 23.7, so I've ordered a new one which should arrive in a week or two. Fingers crossed the old one holds on until then.

Next on the list is new spark plug, coolant and front break pads.

"Winter coming soon"...   I had to do a double-take to see where you were posting.  Yeah, I still have to replace my CVT belt and do a valve-check.  At about 8800 miles,  I am sure my belt is original and should be changed due to age.  Do you get to ride through the winter in NZ? I've managed about a day a week this winter in the southeast part of the U.S.  We get snow, but only about once a year for a day.

All of the maintenance items on the DT were  (so far) surprisingly easy. Even removing the rear wheel for a new tire , taking out/off the storage and windshield to get to the coolant was no biggie.  In fact, taking out the seat/storage tub is SO easy on this bike, you might as well do it whenever you need to work on the engine. and need to get something near the top.

Winter is also coming to Australia. Severe bushfires just weeks ago have been replaced by floods and now cool rainy days. In fact most of our dams are near full. Got a new jacket (Dainese Tempest) which is very waterproof as claimed. Otherwise the rest of my gear is already waterproof by default. It rarely gets below 0*C in Sydney so I never need heated grips or anything fancy.

My DT350i is at 10,000km and runs fine. The oil and air filter has been changed. The transmission filter likes to clog up so it has to be washed frequently.

I hacksawed off the top 1/2 inch of a mirror bracket so I could get a 10mm socket on the nut that tightens the mirror. mjr (Mike the Master) did his by grinding down a socket to squeeze between the nut and the bracket wall.

Another stupid design from Kymco.

I made a clutch spring compressor to maintain and measure, it is not a beauty tool  :D, but I used 30 years old welder machine :-\.
I found driven clutch spring under limit, and clutch shoe bumpers also replaced.
The new clutch shoe springs longer than the old ones, so I keep them and look forward why the new was longer.
It is not finished, I need high temp(blue) grease to finish (rubber O rings and driven pulley seals are good condition).
I think if I reach 40 000 km then I'll have to replace seals and bearings to keep noiseless ??? and getting ready for a clutch shoe replace

Driven pulley and clutch maintenance

I disassembled the movable driven face and roller pins clean the old/hardened grease from both bearings, the clutch pad and plate also cleaned, rubber bumper replaced.
Applied new high temp grease and gently put back together, removed any excessive grease what the seals pushed forward.
Cleaned again after check how it operates, and start the whole assembly back together with the new driven face spring and self made clutch spring compressor. The big nut tightened 54Nm (40ft lb)
I hope this maintenance enough for years, whend the clutch pad have service limit.

Changed engine and gear oil today. Yes, filter, too! Nearly fainted when ODO checked over 18000? Yeah, kilometers! Had the battery out and power up default is kms! Little short of 12000 MILES and interval was under 3000 miles. No leak, no burn, no change, none expected. Used the last oil filter from Motorcycle Superstore...bought 10 filters in 2013... used the last one today. They don't carry that filter since J something Cycle bought them out. I'll get the next one from Amazon...

The gear oil was a bit cloudy, still amber but darker. Put in dino 80/140 since I thought I had gotten the synthetic. Oh, well..

Had a short test ride today. Good start, ran well. Now, I need a trip!

No, synthetic gets dirty at the same rate as regular oil.  It's the suspended carbon grit that wears stuff out. Synthetic oil is only slightly easier on the components in very cold temperatures. Wikipedia has good facts on synthetics, especially how to decode the info on the back of the can.  My favorite factoid from Wikipedia:"Full synthetic is a marketing term and is not a measurable quality".

The engine oil change interval 5000kms or 3000mi for DT if I know right, why you change half time?
Motorcycle engine oil more specific for bikes, I know the marketing crap, but why don't use motorcycle oil instead of "regular" engine oil, and change on specified km?
