Don't even bother taking the seat bucket out, to access the plug. If you put your hand up under by the side stand and look through the vent you can change it that way. Still a PITA. Be prepared to kneel or lay on the ground, though. Not an ideal location

Five English pounds and one 16mm deep spark plug socket later and problem solved. Spark plug removed, cleaned and gapped in a matter of minutes.

I'm definitely a 'seat tub out' type of guy though. Although I could reach the plug, I didn't have any kind of purchase. Besides, I wanted to adjust and lube the seat release cables and disconnect and secure the underseat light.

Life is easier when you have the right tools! Apologies for the earlier rant.

Quick question while I'm here. I've read that some folk take the muffler off when removing the real wheel - presumably to allow better access to the rear wheel spindle... But the suspension mounts look very accessible. Is it worth removing the retaining bolts and letting the wheel drop down? Just a thought.

Won't drop that far, Snorvey. Sliding the muffler off is the easiest since I did it both ways.

when you take off the muffler you will see you have to take it off to get the wheel off,. the wheel slides off the axel,  I remove the two shocks bottom bolts and let the wheel drop down ,to give room for the wheel to slide off,  when it is done check the air intake at the FI.  to make sure it did not pull off,

According to the service manual, first remove the mudguard, then the muffler, caliper, shock absorber bolt, rear fork then the axle nut.

Since the weather turned better, I've been commuting the long way round to work lately.  You don't half feel better when you get to work...the oy problem is you sit looking longingly  out the window at the scoot and the sunshine and ever get any work done.

Got my pin spanner for the rear shocks in the post today, so I guess I'll be fiddling around with the suspenders at the weekend

I am 6 foot ,  220 lb.s   and I set my shocks at #3,.

I'm a  stone a and a half lighter and a couple of inches shorter than you and my shockers have been set to max since it bought the bike. It's been a bumpy ride and it can't wait to soften things up. I'll start at 3 and go from there.

1 & 2 are hopeless, the scooter doesn't stay stable in corners.

3 is just acceptable.

4 & 5 are best for that extra stability in corners but yes, you lose out on the ride comfort.

Depends what you're after.
