Getting my Motorcycle License
« on: May 22, 2014, 08:22:18 PM »
I am looking forward to this Tuesday May 27th, 2014 when I take Motorcycle Skills Test on my Kymco Agility 125. It took me four times to past the written test. I thought I had passed the written test on my third try, but I missed passing by one question. Here in Vegas, I only wish I had schedule the test earlier in the morning. The forecast calls for a high of 100. It is only a dry heat. I plan on going down to the DMV on Sunday night and practice the road course. Here it is a series of 4 exercises. I took the MSF course last year at the community college and the instructors let me go after six exercises. I am I am passing the test on this day. Wish me luck.
Thank You.

Good luck , David !

I got mine when I did the MSF course ( samw day ) . I found it much easier than people said the State of Maine test was .

We were told to put a strip of tape , vertically , on the back of your helmet to insure that the Tester can see that you are turning your head. They said the State, here, tended to fail more people that way .

This topic just reminded me of something.
I've had my Super 8 150 for almost 3 months.
Been riding it every day (as it's my ONLY running vehicle).
Done just over 1100 miles so far.
SO, I should probably get up to the DMV and finally get my bike license. Preferably BEFORE I get pulled over for something!

I've known several people here that ride scooters without getting their license right away. 50cc scoots don't require one. When they do get pulled over on bigger scoots, they play dumb and say they didn't think they needed it for a scooter. They get a cheap moving violation, and it gets dropped if they go get the license before they go to traffic court.
I'm going to get mine sometime in the next week to 10 days, because I ain't got time for traffic court!

The sad part is, my brother-in-law is a cop in my town, and knows I haven't gotten around to the license yet. He and the other cops just wave at me when I ride by.  ;D

Here a 50cc scooter does not require a special endorsement. When I went from the 50cc to the 500cc scooter (before my DT300), I should have taken a test and got the endorsement, but I was not confident of taking the test. The nearest safety course was 70 km away, and in our smaller community (12 000 people), I felt confident of not getting a ticket. About half way through the season, I had enough experience to take the test, written and road and passed easily. I know this is not the legal way to do things, but it worked for me in this community. I do feel better about having the motorcycle endorsement though.
