I'm planning for a 400 miles trip in one day, so it will be 800 miles round trip on my DT300i
anyone done that before? My plan is to take 80% HWY and cruising at 70~75 mph, any comments/thoughts?

I rode from jacksonville fl to virginia beach and back in three days right after break in on my DT300. I did as I have with any bike be it the HD or my old people 200. I'm a early riser so I ran i95 for a couple of hours from 5:30 am until about 7:30. Then I duck off on to the side roads.

That's if I had to be somewhere on a given date. If not all back roads for me !
Can't see America from a super slab so all the "charm" is on the side.

Enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the tips and thoughts, I am planning to take US-101 LA<->SF so I won't be killed on the CA autobahn (aka I-5)
Thinking about to leave around 6am and just take it easy as long as I got there before sunset :)

Riding a distance on a scoot that can hold highway speed is far easier then trying a trip on a 50/100/125/150. Now if you want to impress us make a 200 + mile run on a 50. GO BABY!

I found if you walk for five to ten minuits when you fill up gas, your ride is a lot easyer,.  every 200 miles with a downtown 300i,.

I don't mind running four strokes at redline as long as the engine oil has had time to rise to operating temperature. When the oil is warm and flowing everywhere, there is a minimum of wear.

Beware that engine coolant warms up quicker than engine oil. Coolant may be at operating temperature, but the oil may only be lukewarm!
Me too,
I take my Scion up to it's 112MPH every time I go to the grocer's.
Love these 4 strokes!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Ähm no. I have no Downi, I used a little Yager GT 125 for an iron butt ride. 1629km (1012 miles) certified. 20.5 hours riding, 2 hours sleep. Easy job.

Hey, I work at a Walmart! I wish they'd let me ride my scoot around the store.
It would be SO much easier to chase down shoplifters running for the exit!!

 ;D

If you carry a .45 in your belt you simply stroll out. No one chases me. I mean the guys that do that don't get chased... LOL I said me... Ha!
