Starting Agility 50 when cold.

Alright folks, hope this is in the right section.

My Kymco Agility 50 (2009) when started when it's cold always takes a while to get going properly? Like when I start it and rev it to go it just dies down and does the same again for about 5 mins then it's eventually warm enough to go properly? Any ideas? Is this normal?

Also when I go to dip headlamp it doesn't work until I touch the switch and wee tiny bit towards full beam then it comes on, sounds like a dirty switch?

Carb needs cleaning and or adjustment. Service manual says 2-1\2 turns on the fuel screw but I've found 2-1\4 works best.
2002 Kymco B&W 300; MRP 78MM "300CC", Naraku cam, Yoshimura rS3 exhaust, 17g Sliders, Yellow torque spring drilled airbox, stock carb #115 main #40 pj.

2001 "Yamaha" Zuma AKA MBK Booster; MHR OverRange, Dellorto 19mm BHBG, Polini "big" intake, RS-3 Rear shock, Stock cylinder.

If the carb looks real bad on the outside chances are you need a new one new is beeter then cleaning.

Nooooo no no no. I,be ZNEVER replaced the carb unless something is actually "broken". A factory Kymco Keihin carb is over a hundred bucks and a bottle of carb clean is like $5 plus some TLC.

The switch is dirty. Use a squirt of PB Blaster, and rock it around a few times. Nothing else works as good as PB

My 4t acts the same as yours in cold weather. It will not rev until the auto choke is closed. It just makes too much fuel in the cylinder.

70f, and above it is fine. Try adjusting the idle Mix screw as suggested. see if that helps.

Interesting, I've checked and double checked with a digital tachometer and 4 turns gives highest rpm for mine. I think some dealers replace idle jets when derestricting and cause a little variance.

Stock other than Dr. Pulley Sliders and derestricted from the dealer.

If you're idle jet is partially clogged, it will act like it has a lean idle jet and require more turns out on the mixture (fuel screw). It's easy to get the slow jet varnished just enough to lean it out, and remember most scooters sit in the showroom for a while before selling leaving time to varnish, most dealers don't bother to clean the carb either.
