Would like higher mirrors.
« on: June 10, 2014, 11:04:47 AM »
I would like my mirrors on my 2013 2T to be higher so I dont have to put my head down to look at them. Are there any aftermarket mirrors that someone would recommend that are a bit taller ?

Search long neck Italian scooter mirros on eBay. Not cheap for a pair....but I sure like how much I can see behind me.

Check out cnc mirror riser extenders on amazon.  I haven't tried them yet but they look like they might help you out.

Thanks BlackHawk, do you know off hand if the mirror is 8 or 10 mm. Can check that this weekend though. I like the thought of rising and extending.

I had written to Kymco about that--they said 8mm but did not sound entirely sure. I've copied their e-mail below--just doesn't seem as certain as they should be.  I would measure first.  As I am also thinking about getting these, I'm hoping to check this weekend.  I am also planning to write to the seller to find out about the threading issue.  Per wkrebs helpful videos (find his stuff on the super 8 150 forum) both mirrors have to be unscrewed in a counterclockwise direction.  I don't know if that is what they refer to as standard threading, though.

Do a search for mirror extenders in the super 8 150 forum, someone else ordered them and puts a link to the ones he got.

Got a set of those extenders....I forget now why they have been in the bottom of my tool box for a year. The long neck Italian mirrors ("moto-science" ebay seller) worked better for me...paid @$5 for the adapters. All of it from eBay.

Got the extenders and installed them on my S8 tonight.  They seem to be nice quality.  I tested the fit by screwing the parts togeter by hand to make sure everything worked right.  You have to remove the windshield before you can remove the mirrors; watch #2 of wkrebs excellent videos on youtube about removing panels from the S8 on how to do it.  I did not take the scoot for a test run with them yet, probably will tomorrow.  You'll have to sit on the scoot and work with your wrenches while adjusting them so you can tighten them into the proper position. If they work as I hope they will they will be an excellent investment for my scoot.

I recommend making them just snug enough to stay while driving. Reason is if the bike falls you want them to spin out of harms way rather than snap off.

Could you post a link to your source. Glad it worked well for you. Will also look into bar end mirrors as they do look nice Bettin.

Thanks for all the input.

I doubled up on my mirrors. I have both fully adjustable in the OEM spots, and the bar end set.
The bar ends have saved my "blind spot" more than once. I paid 3.99 shipped from China for the bar ends..
