Great White for dinner
« on: June 15, 2014, 02:48:50 AM »
Has anyone seen this site?  http://www.ocearch.org/

There are some 50-60 Geo Tagged great white sharks swimming about. This morning one of them (Katharine) popped up in the Gulf of Mexico.

You can go to the site, and type in the name of the shark, and see where she/he is.
Thing about this is the shark has to surface for the geo tag to work.
Carrabelle has become Amity today. The moment the word spread that she is approx 100 miles from here the entire town left the bars, and sofas to pile into boats looking for this fish.

The kinda cool thing about this is I passed up an offer to dive at "K" tower tomorrow not knowing anything about the fish. "K" tower is about 80 miles due south of my yard so it would have put us right on top of her.

I guess God is not quite done w/ me yet.

LOL I just realized... One bite of me, and there could have been a Zombie Great White. Imagine that?

Yeah that's very cool. We have had a couple over the last couple of years. Katherine was here a little while back.

That is a neat site. We occasionally shark dive off Montauk Point, LI going out of Point Judith, RI. Its always good to know if they have been in the vicinity as we expect to mainly dive with Blue Sharks. Been a while now as gas prices and the cost of the trip has become more expensive then I we like to pay.

Years and years ago, before we knew better I shark fished off LI. Caught some monster makos.
There are nights I have deep regret for how we fished in the day.

Will be in the Gulf of M. in 48 hrs.....
Please feed the sharks very well and keep them close to your house.
My first visit to the Gulf several yrs ago I very nicely cleared the beach when I spotted several sharks just offshore.
......who knew Dolphins do the shark thing with their fins?!
I may rent a scoot this time when we hit St Pete beach.
Florida is SO cool....you guys never need a car. Ever! Scoot to work and to the store -- year around! All you need is a poncho from Wallgreens and a cheap scoot.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

This is killing me. I lived in Hampton bays L.I. for about 6 years, and every weekend was spent on the Viking fleet out of Montauk.

I had a 14 foot fiberglass boat that we used to do nothing but shark fish off of as well. When I was 16, I had 312 shark tails on my dock.
Today I do regret the way we did things back then for sure... Blues, and Makos were our targets.

Down here (Fl.) like you said Bull sharks are the enemy. Just last week a local drunk fished a 12 foot Bull out of the Carrabelle river. He saw it 4-5 days earlier, and caught it on a live Sail cat (bait).

I'll head down to the beach w/ a few LBS of chopped meat, and try to keep the fish up here so you can enjoy your Vaca.

If you are heading back thru the pan handle stop by for a few cold ones (904) 20nine- 70nine1.
I'm ALWAYS here.

I remember 2-3 Great Whites off of Jacks. beach. For whatever reason they always appear near the Mayport Navy base, and the mouth of the river there. F'd up as it is... That is one of the top surfing spots on the Fl. coast
