I've been enjoying some ride videos on youtube and decided to try and create one myself. Well here is the first run. There were definitely some issues which I explain in the vid. Most of all what I want to gain from this first vid is your opinions. Let me know what you truly think. I am not satisfied with it but we all know that we are our own worst critics. I am definitely into the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method for these videos. Volumes of the scoot versus the voiceover is a concern so let me know about that. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a camera, mainly because I don't have the funds just lying around. Currently the local university is getting all my extra cash as my daughter is attending. Please take the time to watch and give me your opinions. I'll take the good and bad. Have at it. I guess the goal is to make something that others will want to watch when I publish. If you really think you watch it and say, "I'll never watch this dribble again" then let me know. I do know that in the future I want to actually stop and show some of the views as it's not to easy to look away from the road as you're moving.

Video started 720w x 1280h (portrait)
Took into Adobe Premiere Pro (free from work) and cropped to 720w x 540h 24frames per second and exported as .mov
Imported that into iMovie and adjusted volume to 50% and added voiceover.
Exported to YouTube.

Curious as to resolution and frame speed you are using.
Seeing a lot of bounce and resolution is so so.

I too am trying to learn to make good videos. Mine are still not very good.
I have not experimented with all the settings on my camera and i'm a real novice when using video editing programs.
Having kicked you in the jerbiles,  if that vid was shot with a cell phone stuck in the front of your helmet, then it is not bad.
My video editing program has an anti shake option. I plan to try it soon.
Videos are fun and a pain in the butt at the same time.
Not sure about this but, I think a vid can be shot with the sound off, then record your voice and add to the vid in the editing program. I plan to try this when I have time.
ps: There are some good mini cameras that shoot in 1080p for less than $100. Some for less than $50. that do pretty good. The less expensive one are usually on the large side/size.

Include Mobius in your research and consider a helmet side mount with a stationary perspective . . as compared to less stable chest mounting.

I added specs to the original post so you can see what I did. Kick me in the jerbiles, no you didn't. It was constructive and that's what I'm asking for. I forgot about anti shake when importing into iMovie. I've used it before but it just takes so much of the resolution away to make it happen that you're left with a calmer picture show but much lower resolution. IMovie can separate the sound from the video easily but I like the engine sounds in there. I think it helps sell the video.

Wind noise is something that I'm concerned with. I feel that people want to hear the engine instead of wind. Those two videos vary greatly  but I do like the timestamp. I didn't find the shake offensive in either but the wind in the Honda one was bad. I watch another motovlogger and he runs a mic inside the helmet which greatly improves engine sounds and deters the wind noise. That's why I put the cam in my helmet. Cam in the helmet doesn't say safety though and that is a concern.

Unknown if the mic hole was taped over, but the accessory case seems to help.

Good job I made a video on my phone but geting it to down load on web site im still new too .im looking for a way to put my phone on my helment.

I went to test fit my iPhone horizontally within my helmet today and it is not happening. So the research begins on a camera. I'll let you know what I discover.

wow, what a peaceful place to ride a scoot...precious little of that where I live.  Yeah, it's bouncing, but if the road are up and down the camera will be, too.  Is there any way to attach the camera to the wind screen? That would at least limit the bounce to what the bike is doing instead of the bike and your reaction to the bike's movement.

For me, this is the ONLY motor vehicle video of pavement coming at me that will hold my interest.....unless I'm being shown magnificent city scenes, or I am learning something new and important to my 2 wheel riding from a skilled author...or I am at least being shown snippets of some part of the motorcycle or scooter doing it's work (suspension flexing, wheels turing, etc.) Without something to hold my interest..    pavement coming at me, cars and trees going by , even with an otherwise pleasant fellow chatting ~~ is about as interesting as watching your neighbors home movies of their trip to Cleveland.

PS, I know how and what old Claude used to shoot his famous 8.5 minute film of a car racing through the early morning streets of Paris.... the facts behind the film do not detract from my love of his work of motoring art.

I first tried holding the camera along with the left handle grip and it was aweful. You see every jump and bump. Mounting to your body actually acts as an additional shock absorber.

or,or, mount that baby on the scooter for some cool action shots of your scoot going thru its paces as you slalom down the road! Camera guys probably will appreciate any darn thing you want to shoot. There's that angle, too. I mean some people actually like home movies of Cleveland!! :-) :-)

Plugged in my earbuds (that have a mic inline and then recorded a nice stretch of road. Sound was good but the chest mounted iPhone was just waaaay to jittery. Now looking for phone suction mounts for the side of my helmet.

I'm beginning to think the shock systems on scooters aren't up to the jitter free video task.
