Where to buy jets
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:09:15 PM »
Where can I buy some jets for the 50cc 2T Super 8 ?

I'l like to try some higher jets like #85 etc. Also would consider Bettin's early mode carb if its not too expensive and painless to get working.

I just dont know the specs of the jets. A link t the exact jet would be nice.

Thanks

Let B&L set you up w/ a few. Ebay has them/ Partsforscooters.com has them but I forget which ones. One of these guys will know.

great thanks Zombie Would you know the specs offhand as I see so many different jets and they seem for specific carbs.

Do I have the Keihin 99101-116 carb? The specs only say 16mm Keihin.

OK TY Zombie

Bump!

Was going to buy the 7mm ones. Is just a bit ambiguous what jet to get but a phone call to racing planet tomorrow may solve that. I want to also try and remove the idle screw plug tomorrow and try some carb tuning. The last time I tuned a carb was on my Flintstone (hole in the floors) 76 Chevy Nova, dam its been a long time.

Also would like to buy a few exhaust and carb gaskets.

It is real easy bro. You turn it about 1/2 turn at a time, and wait a few seconds for the result. When the idle starts going down got the other direction. Keep going till it starts to go down again. The goal is somewhere in between. You want the highest idle you can get. Once you have that turn 1/4 turn RICHER or Clockwise if the screw is near the carb. inlet or counter clockwise if the screw is near the carb outlet.

They are the 5mm, same jet size as the 250 bikes take. That racing planet price is really good, I couldn't even mail them that cheap lol. I'll vouch for then though, been good dealings lately. The carb does not have gaskets anywhere all orings that only need replacement of it sits with gas. If everything else is stock a #86 jet works well, 500" and normally 65 degrees here. Also have a look at my exhaust derestrction post, worth doing.

Thanks Bettin.

I may be wrong but Im seeing M4's for the Super 8 50 2t

http://www.racingplanetusa.com/xanario_search.php?query=main+jets&sessID=0b67aee6ef13bb00507d42f23c783ee4&attrib[cat][0]=Kymco_Super+8+50+2-Takt

Do the 2T's and 4T's still share the same jets ?

Still considering your early model carb mod in the future.

Zombie looking forward to removing that plus, looks easy enough with the carb on the bike. I'll contact racing planet.

Hmm I'll have to double check, my 250s cash had the same size main jet as the 2t but most gy6 based bikes have larger jets. And yes I just checked my jets in the tool box, small size is 4mm so that's what you should order. Sorry for misinformation earlier!

NP Bettin

I must apologize fr not using the drop down model selection menu. I stopped using the menus as all other sites only list the 4T if any. I ordered them this morning with an exhaust gasket. Was gonna do a carb oring but they had 2 different listed wasnt sure which to get.

It's fine, I've taken thousands of those carbs off and never have had to replace the the o-rings.

Well I did the carb mod but the dremel made a very wide v shaped slot, can still turn the needle though with a small screwdriver.

Just want to ask if turning it out (counter clockwise) is rich and turning it clockwise is lean. I didn't note any performance gain but I'm sure carb tuning is more about steady efficient performance and keeping the engine running good with least amount of damage.

I may have it slightly on the rich side (counterclockwise) just to be safe from being too lean. The increase in RPM's from hitting the sweet spots seems to be very slight from its over lean or over rich position. I guess a tachometer is really needed to be exactly spot on.

Are my assumptions correct ?

Thanks.

Left lean, right rich. It's an air screw so imagine closing it, clockwise, turns off the air, which is richer. You want to be in the 3\4 - 1 turn out range.
