ABS not offered in USA on People GTi...
« on: July 06, 2014, 04:12:08 AM »
Is it possible to purchase the ABS components and install them to our non ABS Peoples? Does anyone know if this is possible or how to find the parts?

Ok my curiosity is peaked.
Didn't you just buy that scoot?

If you wanted ABS that was the wrong bike for you. You had a long list of your likes and dislikes and ABS never was mentioned. Maybe if you had test rode the 300 you would have noticed it didn't have ABS.......

Or done your homework a little more.

Sorry I'm just confused by the whole thing. You had other choices that have ABS. Adding aftermarket just doesn't make sense to me. Not to mention it voids the warranty.

I would read the fine print about any mechanical modification. It's in there.
Been there over an exhaust. Any mod and it's their discretion to cover or not.

I'll say it again the OP just bought a scoot w/o ABS and now want to about add it.
Sorry that shows little advance planning.

Wrong wrong wrong and wrong. I was only looking at the people and BV. Neither have ABS. Also i was shopping used since i couldnt get financing. Also i didnt list ABS because the BV and People dont have ABS in america but do in other countries. I am not in canada either and its its a 2012 with no warranty. Sooooo yeah lets start over with your facts straight. Amac talk your sh** else.where. You clearly had your facts wrong. So not having the choice of an abs scoot that is in my price range but knowing the components exist is good planning. Also the OEM makes ABS for it but.doesnt sell that option here.  Also if you werent going to contribute than STFU you arent helping attempting to troll me. Just makes you look like a dick. So I ask again. Does anyone know where to order Kymco's ABS components for the People 300 GTi and has anyone else tried this on theirs?

What an intelligent well thought out response....
I find your inability to express your dismay with my comments without using expletives disturbing to say the least.

I will "contribute" anytime I wish as once you post on an Internet forum the topic is fair game. But I'll do it without foul language.

You will find that childish "potty mouth" posts reflects very poorly on you.

BTW a quick google search found the shop manual for the ABS model and all info/part numbers are there. Give it a shot search engines are an amazing resource......

The family was at a small town fireworks show on the 4th. Very big deal, a whole lot of people showed up at the airport for the show. (took 2 hrs to get back onto the road home - that many people)I mentioned to the kids that this was kinda neat - seeing so many come out for an American event like family fireworks. We started counting minivans and F-150's. The 150's were winning when it finally got dark.
Then a teenaged girl rejoined the group in front of us and proceeded to loudly & angrily drop the F Bomb  a few dozen times. Fortunately she quit after about 20 mins. The 3 adults accompanying the group never said a word to her. Not once. We watched them pack up and load their cars during last half of the show and never look at the sky - but they were the first ones out after the finale. Go figure...
I was kinda proud to be an American there for awhile until that foul American kid showed up.
(AMAC,your post made me think of this)

Potty mouth..... wow... didn't realize this was Sunday School at church.  Ha ha ha ha, oh man really? You gotta try that hard to troll me? Two curses, one of which is so blase that they often don't even censor it on certain cable channels and both were also censored.  Oh man you're cute. I didn't even use real vulgarity. I find you laughable at best.  If individual words disturb you than you're a pretty frail individual.  Shouldn't you be writing hate mail to tv studios, magazine publishers, and movie studios for their naughty words and actions?  The fact that you were able to find time away from what must be a very busy day of plugging your ears and wishing the naughty world away is staggering.  I happily use any word I choose. People have died for this right and I plan to make it worth while.  I happily rid my life of individuals that believe words in and of themselves are bad. Thanks for the suggestion of a search engine... man I sure couldn't come up with that on my own... it's almost as if I was looking to communicate with people who are interested in this topic but you're right. Nobody come to these forums for discourse because Amac has discovered a marvel of the modern era called search engines.  Wow. From this moment on, in my mind, you will be the little old lady in Monty Python and the Holy Grail that cowers in pain as two of the characters say "Ni" to her.

Let me take a moment to thank you for highjacking my topic (that was intended to gather information from people on their experiences on this subject) and making it about you and your need to get a rise out of somebody.

Oh BTW I am no longer the knight who says Ni. Now I must be off to chop down the mightiest tree with a herring.  Bu bye little old lady you will give me my shrubbery.

Yeah dude not worth trying to mod on ABS, maybe not even possible. Not to mention it would cost over a grand. ABS controller (Bosch, not cheap), different calipers, possibly different ECU, different brake lines, different master cylinder, electronic wheel speed sensors, different wheels with Hall effect sensor pickups, different forks for speed sensors, and probly more. All for ABS? Abs is stupid on a motorcycle IMHO, if you can't properly modulate your brakes then you need more practice riding. Just my $.02 on the whole thing. Also I will note that no one trolls on this form man, from the 4 or so months I've been on this forum your the only one to freak out like that. This isn't the YouTube comment section.

I have been riding for three years now and am able to modulate just fine.  It's a matter of safety.  Have you ever had less than a second to react to a car?  Have you ever had less than a second to react to a car in the rain?  In these emergency situations you can't count on being clear headed enough to modulate. Some times you need to mash down on those brakes and hope for the best.  I have been cut off in the rain and didn't see it coming. It happens to the best of us.  I reacted in less than a second but that wasn't enough time to think about how the tires would grip, the brakes would grab, and how I should shift my weight.  I nearly lost it and could have been killed.  As far as I'm concerned the only reason to have ABS to save your life when split seconds matter. Your opinion is that it's stupid and mine is that it could be the very thing to save my life one day.

I realize this isn't the youtube comments section ha ha.  You will also notice I used less cuss words and racial slurs than your average youtube comment lol...

Thank you for the info though.  I didn't realize it would be so expensive.

Yeah I'm aware of all of that, it's just to integrated into the bike to make sense, you may as well have got an ABS X500 for the cost and head ache it would incur doing custom ABS. I've been riding for 6 years and haven't once had to brake without knowing what will happen, but then again I've been lucky.
